do they work?
>>106867265Good ones like IETS GT600 do work. It's cumbersome and sounds like a jet engine though.
For having tried it, some do
>>106867265If you line up to the exhaust correct, then you can make it work. Faster removal of heat from system works, but there's a diminishing return and cost, like everything.
>>106867265If you need one of these it means your laptop is poorly engineered.
Applying new thermal paste and not buying trash laptops in the first place works much better.
>>106867414That's not true. At some point, you will need it (or buy a newer laptop). I have an Acer predator helios 300 from 2022. It has an RTX 3080 (laptop version) in it, which is equivalent to an RTX 3070. A good cooler allowed me to play Clair Obscur in near ultra settings. A good cooler will push air into the fans and can make a 10 degree difference for the computer. I would have to play on lower settings otherwise.
>>106867265It depends entirely on the cooler and the fan orientation of your laptop. I bought a Chink knock off of the Llano cooler that some "influencers" advertise. It has a foam boarder that keeps airflow contained. This works for my laptop because the air intakes are on the bottom, the exhaust to the back and sides.I see an 8- 0c decrease in peak temp, and that of course means the laptop makes less noise. The laptop cooler just has a much larger fan so it can move more air at lower RPM.None of this matters unless your laptop has the right fan setup. If you don't have intakes and exhausts facing the right way you're fucked.
>>106867460>At some point, you will need it (or buy a newer laptop).Or a screwdriver and some arctic mx6 paste.
What's a good brand has good laptops that doesn't have cooling issues? Also would compressed air help clear out the dust from the heat vents?
they are good when you are laying in bed. dirt cheap too.
>>106867717>What's a good brand has good laptops that doesn't have cooling issues?most workstation laptops are like that>Also would compressed air help clear out the dust from the heat vents? If you want to wreck the fan, sure
>>106867717Anything with NVIDIA is going to turn into a space heater as soon as the GPU kicks in. I bought a z13 flow tablet because I hate NVIDIA and want to do local AI shit. Because it only uses like 45-65 watt when I'm gaming and the fans are behind the screen and at the top of the device you can use it without melting your hands. Too bad its overpriced.>>106867738Compressed air is not going to break a fan
>>106867778>Compressed air is not going to break a fanIt can break the electronics in the fan (remember that motors act as generators), the fan blades themselves (many newer laptop ones are really fragile), and if you get the wrong type of compressed """air""" it can even release liquid shit all over if you hold it wrong
>>106867807you would have to be spinning your shit at like 10,000 rpm for it, do a test spray to make sure its just air and not liquid garbage, and you can just hold the fan in place with a finger while you spray to get the garbage out and not generate voltage. It's only going to break shit if you are a moron about it.
>>106867851If you have the laptop open, you might as well take off the heatsink and clean just the finsIf you don't open the laptop then you won't be able to remove the dust properly
>>106867460You're just a beastially stupid nigger. Your laptop was poorly engineered, as from the get go it could not handle the thermal load of your GPU unless you add a giant bullshit fan to compensate.
>>106867889>muh negrofound the one person itt more retarded than the one you quoted
"cooling issues" are also the norm for gaming laptops these days, they're all designed to run at 80C sustained. You can't have a 5080 mobile and use it on your lap.
>>106867265no, removing the battery will help more with your laptop heat than anything elsei wish they didn't make it so obnoxious to remove them, old models had them sliding out without disassembling the whole fucking thing
