How come that despite of over 30 years of development Linux hasn't managed to solve even the very basics like software bundling and distribution?
>>

it's solved. flatpak. /thread
crappimages are beyond shit windows-exe level of retardation
snaps take 30 seconds to boot
>>
>>106873666
Sticking to one solution is against the principles of this OS.

The "problem" is made up to push corporate interests. Just use your distro's package repository
>>
>>106873666
Things have blown out of proportion during the last 10 years.
I'd love to use modern Irix, it's like a night day difference to this bloated tranny shit in which same setting can and will be changed in 5 different locations and every software gets installed in random locations depending on the whims of the dev
>/opt/share
>/usr/local
>/usr/share
>/opt/local
>/usr/games
I can go on.

AppImages just work.

what are u talking about? on my machine i just type a couple of letters and the name of what i want to install

>distro's package repository
>most software missing or way out of date
>>
>>106873746
This. Literally never used anything other than my distros package repository and .deb files. You don't need more. It just works.

To anyone reading this post, this is bait. If you really cant configure a setting in gui then its in /etc/ or ~/.config

>>106873943
use a different distro or install using flatpak. having options here is a good thing

>Buy or pirate industry standard proprietary software
>Download .dmg
>Open
>Drag the .app into the applications folder
>Open
>It opens without errors and just works
>If you wish to uninstall, move the .app file into the trash
Linux tranx loonatix folx will never know this feel.
