There is no need for this concept of "a new OS" every few years. An OS is just an OS. It's a simple platform, functional, for doing other things. These new OS' are not introducing anything better than before, they are arguably regressions. People just want it to work, not crash, give them enough tooling to deal with issues. And instead with every new iteration you get more crashes and less tooling/capability. So it's objectively a big fat L. I would literally, not in some kind of nostalgic sense, prefer 7 or 10 right now. There is absolutely nothing whatsoever introduced in 11 that I wanted or needed and it instead introduced more bloatware and regressions.

Windows 11 now randomly freezes and crashes on me when I'm doing basically nothing at all and that wasn't something that existed for me in 10. When I spin up my machine from sleep mode half there is significant start up time for it to re initialize. The right click dropdown menu takes time to load and buffer all options for christ's sake. It's not for the better.

I was an XP/2003 holdout til 8.1 due to having mid-end computers. After 2013, good hardware became really cheap and I stopped caring about 1-5 FPS differences.
