Cascadia Mono NF variant. The cursive for some part of the code looks very good. Not Cascadia Code, ligatures are for faggots.

>>106932556Yeah, that’s pretty bad.“New” does not always mean better, especially in something ancient like fonts.A lot of these new fonts are just striving to be different in some way to the already well-established principles.I’ve used most of these fonts, the #1 was MobaFont from MobaXTerm, which is actually a hacked Menlo.IBM Plex is not terrible, but the ‘l’ was a non-starter.The IBM font for the 3270 terminal actually has readability science behind it and remarkably good for its day. The high-persistence phosphors and the CRT give bitmapped fonts a readability edge since it works a bit like “dot gain” on printed pages. It can probably be simulated on very high resolution monitors, but generally it’s not as good and I prefer a modified 10x20 on low grade monitors (and sit back a bit from the monitor) as cleartype shenanigans look blurry. They *are* blurry.Bitmaps for lcd monitors was clearly more readable unless you have something over, say, 300 DPI.

>>106934184Why most fonts use dotted zero instead of slashed zero? Nobody wrote it with pen and paper
>>106934184Nah I like this actually, it's monospaced and the characters do not become differentiable until they reach a very low size. Lowercase L and 1.Monospaced is good so it formats nicely in code. Then the only problem is probably the symbols which are not aligned to represent the original ascii char design for it's integer representation.Personally I like the null terminator \0 in a file to be represented with an actual character \0 which corresponds to the integer index 0, then also EOF to be represented with an EOF.Berkeley Mono is one of the nicest fonts I've ever seen. Free fonts I'd say consolas even though there is ambiguity for some characters and some other characters not listed.
>>106930229Brother
>>106948197This actually confuses me personally. I think the line is better for obvious reasons being that at a smaller size, the line allows the 0 to be more differential from an O at lower size.
Verdana is my second favorite free one.
FiraCode was very good, but it needs to be installed.
