>asks me to update for the 3rd time within 1 week>go see the changelog notes and its just "We sped up the performance of scrolling in long chats. If you are in a big gardening group, now bloom scrolling is also vroom scrolling." For all previous 45 releasesWhat the fuck is going on? Are they exclusively hiring jeetcoders too now? Why arent they saying what theyre really going in the changelog
>>106932782>Why arent they saying what theyre really going in the changelogThey are busy amking bloom scrolling also vroom scrolling
>>106932782call reliability is still dogshit, this is insane as it has been a solved issue for decades at this point...
>>106932794I really dont like when applications need an update almost every single day, feels like im back in 2008 when itunes would bother me with a new update every single day. The last recent time another app did this was shazam. Shazam alllllways has an update, basically everyday and when you click the changelog its just "big fixes and improvements" ive never once encountered a bug on multiple devices ive owned nor noticed anything being improved. I deleted it just because of how often it got updated
they are/were busy with the big quantum secure crypto upgrade
Why using Signal, which asks for a phone number, instead of any XMPP app? Not only you can message users using a different app or server (just like that futuristic and esoteric technology called 'email') but you could even roll your own server quite easily.
>>106932870No one i know uses xmpp. If i install it id just be messaging myself. I use signal cuz its supposedly more secure and its how i send vids and pics to my friends cuz files are too large for sms/mms. Like if i send a video more than 5 seconds long it gets compressed into dogshit on mms or just fails to send
>>106932870XMPP does not use pqc, and nobody uses it.
>>106932837You will like it or you will rope
theyre going the way of telegram in search of monetisation
>>106933604Im just gonna turn off the update notification and try to remember to update once a month. I am a techlet so idk whats going on or why an app would need to be updated 3 times a week. In my techlet non-developer opinion, an application thats made well shouldnt need such frequent updates. I have apps that run fine for months that dont need updating, and when they do come out with an update they list all the things they did in the changelog. 45+ releases and not a single detail about it in the changelog? What the fuck is that, am i missing something here?
>>106932782Their release notes have been faggy for a long time. Unserious project.
>>106933781A few years ago itd only get updated like once a month. Now its like 15 times a month, if this keeps it itll probably get updated daily or twice a day
>>106933731You can configure obtanium to check for updates only every week. Same for fdroid.
>>106935257The update notification pops up inside the app.
They still have no backup option on iOS
>focus on new features>users bitch about lack of optimization>focus on performance>users bitch about updatesOne must imagine users happy.
>>106936901You get what you deserve
>>106932837they want to condition the cattle to accept regular unsolicited updates. this removes the process of deriving consent from the user (in exchange for features, etc), removing what devs perceive as "bureaucracy", in other words giving the developer more power over how the software is used.if windows 10 wants to spy on you harder or lobotomize a feature if it increases the bottom line somehow they'd just do it before you'd realize you've been gaped and there's nothing you can do about it then.
come home white man
>>106934920they probably setup a release pipeline and it just compiles a release every day by default.
>>106932782IT'S REAL, LMAO
>>106938743Continuous delivery for an application that claims to be security and privacy conscious is an oxymoron. It is yet one more reason why Signal is not to be trusted.
seriously though, google doesn't even publish quality release notes. fucking google sets a bad example.
>>106932782usecase for release notes?
>>106932782You can see each change here, it's free softwarehttps://github.com/signalapp
>>106932782NSA uses targeted updates of the compromised app with help from Google/Apple, but doesn't want to alert the targets. So everyone else needs an update every day too.
>>106938974OP doesn't have one, he doesn't even have screenshots depicting the issue.
>>106937283do it right the first time>oops I did it wrong, what about now?>oops still fucked up, maybe now?>haha bad luck, did it again, but maybe this time?>*every few days for years*
>>106938974>can you share Screenshots depicting the issue
>>106932782SIGNAL is CIA slop
>>106939268nice free software if it doesn't allow forking
