>>106933818Use case? From what I can gather, it's a fork of a fork. Cryengine -> Lumberyard -> O3DE. It's not clear what was added/removed at each step. I assume O3DE is cut down from Lumberyard, otherwise they wouldn't have changed the name. It's monstrously big, 40GB SDK plushttps://nibblestew.blogspot.com/2021/07/a-quick-look-at-o3de-game-engine-and.html>The build system consists of 56 thousand lines of CMakeIt's on roughly the same scale as Unreal or Unity but without the commercial support you can get from those. Not something that would be attractive to a solo or indie dev. At best it might be attractive to a medium-size team who wants to build and support their own engine but doesn't want to start from scratch?
>>106934038Yeah, no idea who would use this engine
>>106934038>>106934675I think they marketed it for AAA development early on. I believe they wanted to be the AAA equivalent to Godot, which is targeted more toward indie games.
>>106934675>Yeah, no idea who would use this engineAnyone who wants to use it for whatever industry.
>>106934038unreal engine, but free
It's been over four years.Exactly one game has been released using O3DE. It's a very basic FPS that could easily have been made with something like Godot or Three.js.https://store.steampowered.com/app/2844240/State_of_Matter/Three other games announced: Some kind of solo furry game, a vapourware mobile shooter, and "Reverb" which seems to just be some assets and concept art at this stage.https://docs.o3de.org/docs/learning-guide/made-with-o3de/
>>106934038I think its only actual use is being an 'omniverse' / 'digital twin' for amazon warehouse internally
