I use a samsung galaxy s23 with the android 14 that came out of the box, but i have removed google play service and related apps using ADB. If i end up needing the gsuite, I use Secure Folder to install apps that need google play services. I've been using this setup for little over a year. But I dont know how secure this setup is so i just want to know what the community thinks of this? Is it stupid? Is there anyone that use a phone similiarly? If yes drop some tips and tricks you've found.

Also google seems to be really locking down on the sideloading thing. Now i get errors even on the apps on Secure Folder.

I havent updated the phone once i bought.

I've owned a google pixel 10 for a week and I want to blow my brains out. It's got a mind of its own, I can't figure out the stupid UI and it overheard me say "adios" to some guy when my GPS was active and now every time I use google maps it's giving me directions in spanish. I haven't used any of the AI features yet due to fear of it wresting even more control away from me with the operation of my phone. Should I just take this shit back and eat the restock fee? Is it just growing pains from a decade old phone upgrade? Can you learn to live with Gemini back seat phoning?

I think my other option was a moto razr flipper, which gives me great concern because I heard they're great minus the dogshit camera. Writing this while I look wistfully at my fractured galaxy S 10 remembering when smart phones were simpler. I'm really close to just ordering a replacement S10 at this point and instantly buying a new battery for it. MFW; send help.

It's mainly for people who
>don't have any other device, including a computer or laptop
>don't have any secondary storage (own external storage or have cloud storage)
>take a lot of videos and photos
>download a lot of movies, etc.
If you're archiving your data on an external drive then you will almost never need more than 128 GB of storage even with a bunch of apps installed. And the same applies to PCs.

Samsung is the sensible choice for a phone these days. Here's why:
>Wide range of models: a phone to suit every budget
>Software is clean and just works, unlike other Android skins
>Even quite cheap phones come with more software support (6 or 7 years) than competitors
>Samsung aren't Chinese, so you don't have to worry about the Chinese Communist Party spying on you
>Android is more flexible than iOS, e.g. sideloading is much easier
>>
>>106960464
iphone 15 pro never had a good camera. it's from the era of early ultra-hdr photos which turn everything gray.
https://www.tiktok.com/@alixearle/video/7370488869822713131

let's see what samsung says
https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10004910/
>Adoptable storage is not available on Samsung devices. Using a microSD card for adoptable storage will reduce the overall performance of your phone or tablet, and is meant for devices with very low internal memory sizes. MicroSD cards used for adoptable storage are encrypted and cannot be removed from your device without factory resetting your phone or tablet, and formatting the SD card.
might as well use a usbc stick if all you get is some media storage
>>
>>106960730

>>
>>106954554

>>
>>106960661
I didn't really concede any point. I made a slight concession for the third point where I said that if custom ROMs really matter to you then get a Google Pixel. That's fair, those phones will be better if you really care about custom ROMs. Many people don't though. For lots of normal people, Samsung phones are a good choice.

>>106960740
>a piece of rope for a noose is cheap
I'm not saying that people who want 3.5mm jacks should kill themselves. I'm saying they should buy a cheap USB-C to 3.5mm adapter.
>its about being able to root. installing apks will remain working for now, but we dont know what google will be up to after 2027
In any case, I would personally trust a Samsung phone more than I would trust a Chinese Communist Party phone. Even if the latter has fewer restrictions on sideloading or whatever, that's not enough of a plus for me.

It's true, microSD cards are dogshit slow. Here's an AI overview:

>The fastest UFS 4.0 embedded storage is significantly faster than the fastest readily available microSD cards.
>| Storage Type | Sequential Read Speed (Max) | Sequential Write Speed (Max) | Interface/Bus |
>| UFS 4.0 | Up to 4,200 MB/s | Up to 2,800 { MB/s} | Full-Duplex (Internal) |
>| Fastest microSD (UHS-I) | Up to 250 MBs} | Up to 150 \text{ MB/s} | Half-Duplex (External) |
>| MicroSD (SD Express) | Up to 900 MB/s | Up to 650 MB/s | PCIe/NVMe (External, limited availability) |
>Conclusion: UFS 4.0, used for internal smartphone storage, offers sequential speeds that are many times faster than any commonly available microSD card.

If you're content with slow transfer speeds onto the card, sure.

Why do you need an easily corrupted card vs more fast storage on the phone itself? Are you constantly popping out your SIM tray to swap your SD card out? Use case unclear, SD cards considered harmful.
