Greetings, after my recent switch to Debian 12 with KDE Plasma 5 I've entered another rabbit hole.>Color Scheme>FontThe result should be easily legible and least fatiguing. My go to has always been solid black backgrounds of varying shades with off-white text. Yesterday I came across the solarized concept and I've been giving that a go >pic rel. Here's the dude behind it and his concept.>https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/I have yet to deep dive into fonts, but there's this site if you don't mind being data mined.>https://readabilitylab.xyz/In spite of all this I think I'm gonna go back to the old school amber monochrome look.>tldr. What font and color palette do you use for best readability?
>Debian 12>Recent I just use open bar on GNOME with auto accent colors extension It just works
Everything but black on white is mental illness.
I'd make one based on the minimal dark-grey + orange/yellow of "Krita Dark Orange", but exact highlighting for all the langs you plan to use is such a pain compared to just white on black"Gruber" comes close
>>106954399Gruvbox + Iosevka
I use whatever light theme my nigga PROTESILAOS cooks up next and thats on GOD
>>106954399Everforest + Iosefka
>>106954399> solarizedAh yes, the catpuccin before catpuccin was a thing...
Gruvbox dark, source code pro for monospaced, I like fredoka as my font for the rest of the system, but you probably wouldn't.If you really want perfect monospaced fonts you need bitmap fonts like cozette, creep, or cherry though.
>>106956249>>106956068>>106956264Basically modus-vivendi + Iosevka and that's it. You don't need more than this.
>>106954399>easily legible and least fatiguingYou won't like it, but that's positive contrast polarity ("light mode"). The more light there is, the easier it is to read.
>>106956068It's like the uncanny valley, but instead of finding it creepy or soulless, something about this depiction just fills me with instinctive rage, like something in my subconscious mind has been insulted.

fonts: jetbrains mono, ibm plex mono, iosevka curly slab, berkeley mono*theme: nord* download from site with dev tools and use woff2 decompress, then check with fontforge; some chars may be swapped>>106956267catppuccin is jeetcoded: https://github.com/sgoudham
>>106954399i've tried many color schemes over the past decade, but I always come back to the original gruvbox. It's just so easy on the eyes—warm and mellow.
>>106954399Just use Nord or Catppuccin for color scheme
>>106959338>catppuccin is jeetcodedIt's literally just a set of colors, what could go wrong?

i like jonathan blow's custom emacs colors, there are a bunch of recreations
pink on magenta
>>106954399only women and trannies about color themes and fonts
>>106954399>solarizedThis has been around since 2011.
I've been using Source Code Pro as my font for 10 years, it clearly distinguishes the similar letters while many fonts neglect one or two.My colorscheme is custom, black text on white background, strings are blue, comments are green, functions are bolded.I think coloring everything is overrated but one thing most colorschemes get wrong is making comments gray. In my codebases comments aren't inane nonsense like "increment loop counter".
any good light themes besides solarized and gruvbox?
>>106956068ThisUI is solved
>>106954399because of the low mentality of the majority of lurkers on /g/ who just want to show off their 'battlestation' in their moms basement, they made a rule against terminal UI threads, so /g/ is no longer a place we can freely share information and be inspired by text UIs
>>106959340Ambient lighting and the sensitivity of one's eyes affect the experience a lot. Most of these themes are not that good because the way they mix cold and warm tones and contrast is often an issue.I believe most of them have been created by colourblind people or people who don't actually work with a computer and text/images for 8+ hours every day.>>106959340
>>106960321Forgot: gruvbox is okay with slight adjustments. But that's individual.
>>106954399try https://www.nordtheme.com/
>>106954399i like meslo[lgs] as fontcolor scheme? eh. gentoo theme, tide shell theme, astrotheme, solarized, gruvbox... it ultimately doesn't matter that much to me i suppose
>>106954399It's insane how UGLY KDE is. It somehow managed to combine the worst of old and modern designs.

I like Catppuccin.Nord is also nice. I used that for a while.
