My first world internet actually went down way more often than my third world internet does. I don't miss their nightly "maintenance", fucking Charter/Spectrum. The third world situation is kinda funny. On rare occasions the whole system just goes to shit and it takes them half a day or more to get it back up. A fiber cut is a more likely problem. If the fiber is on a pole it can be fucked up by weather or retards crashing into the pole. If it's in the ground some retard can dig into it and sever it, which actually takes longer to fix. The worst is when there are long power outages. My ISP's backup power supply only lasts for a few hours at most.
