Are there any companies that do a half measure between pre-built and home built? That is to say, they let you pick the parts and then assemble it for you? It would seem like a good business model if they offered competitive prices.
>>106959436Origin or whatever the new FOTM one is now. Most parts shops will build it for you if you pay.>if they offered competitive prices. They don't.
>>106959436>That is to say, they let you pick the parts and then assemble it for you?yeah, every PC shop ever. stop being fucktarded
the only way you wont get scammed on prices is by buying all the parts yourself then taking them into a PC place and paying them the fee to build it. $100 to $200 if you're lucky
>>106959546The broader point is about making it a viable business model, though. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra if I got good deals on the components, but if they rip me off on those and then ask for an assembling fee on top of that, I'd rather just do it myself. The other anon is probably right about buying the parts separately from different sources and then only paying them for building it, but by that point you might as well build it yourself. I guess a half measure would mean getting the parts delivered directly to the PC shop from other sources, or something like that. Maybe some small businesses would be willing to do that, I doubt any large retailer would.
