there will NEVER be another kino like this
this aged so badly in 10 years lol
it fell off after season 2, kept repeating the same plot beats
>>106960787why?>>106960806not true, it only fell off when they got rid of Erlich in the last season
>>106960806That seems to be the fate of any series nowadays that is not a mini series.Always return to status quo.Everything needs to be written not to make a good story, but in such a way that enables it to keep adding seasons forever. Then when the viewer count drops you just quickly add some random finale.
>>106960832I agree, it was good up to the end of season 4. Season 5 was the weakest imo and 6 a bit better, but still worse than 1-4.
Gilfoye is my favorite character. He's just like us. They really nailed what we look and act like.
>>106961058ummm i thought we were supposed to self insert as richard???
>>106961058Where's my satanic goth gf?
>>106960754Humbled by Halt and Catch Fire
>>106961058the actor had chronic depression at the time. His clothes were not picked by the staff; this was how he showed up.
unironically one of my favorite shows. the annecdote of sfba fags saying it was disturingly accurate was only the cherry on top.
they even made a real github repo for the show
>>106962025literally garbage kill yourself
>>106960832Silicon Valley is a dumpster fire now and nobody has jobs or is doing anything of value anymore. It's become inundated with H1Bs and nepotists.
>>106961058Gilfoyle gives off strong /g/ oldfag vibes>>106963697>they even made a real github repo for the show?
>>106960754this show was shiti know he was trying to make everyone unbearable and annoying to match reality but it wasn't funny enough to make up for that
Never finished it. Maybe got through 1.5 seasons. Did the girl love interest stick around or was that just a long running gag and they trashed her?
>>106960787Indeed, it’s funny that the show came out during learn to code and now all these smug faggots are unemployed.
>>106960754i miss when tech was at least somewhat like this shownow i just sit at home and listen to Indians on MS Teams all day
It would have been better without the season long story arcs. Every season ends with "we made it!....oh wait we didn't".
I think that the show could make a comeback, either as live action or animated.
It has the Atlanta Effect. The show is fun an interesting when is about a bunch of underdogs fighting for success living as normal beings in a common but beautifil soulful home. Once the characters reach success, it becomes boring.
>>106961058imagine having this as a GF thoughhttps://youtu.be/NMcBye4lOuA
>>106960754We could have another show like this if it was about starting an indie game studio. Make it a dark comedy of how horrible it is.
>>106966967>the main character is a competent programmer and has a bharat cousin that leads a telephone scam ring, a Dalit pastiche of Elrich Bachman that tries very hard to look latino or african depending of the actor's skin complextion.
>>106967034>his nemesis is an Iranian that lives next door and constantly tries to gain remote administrative access to his network, but his cousing always protect him. The iranian is also in a war against a family of orthodox jews that don't believe Israel should exist because interferes with the coming of the Messiah. The entire story takes place in a US state where there is no major technology industry, and all the characters work in places that need digital infrastructure, such as hospitals, courthouses, schools, and banks. The series is more of a story about a city and the technological problems its people face, with a couple of villains thrown in for good measure. >the story takes place in a USA state where there is not massive IT industry and all the characters work in places that need digital infrastructure, hospitals, some company managing the public water supply, courthouses, schools and banks. The show is more a story about a city and the technological and human problems they have, with a couple of villains of the day one things get boring with romantic drama.
>>106966863does that name reference the show "atlanta"? have enough people watched that to give it an effect?
>>106965824which one? monica you mean?she was in the series until the end but there wasnt any sexo involved, they probably wanted to develop her in that way only in the very first season but then they must have changed idea
it loses steam but is still consistently good. it had a decent ending. losing erlich really imbalanced the characters even though he had no purpose, his over the top foil to the productive nerds (and jinyang) was a necessary element to carrying most of the scenes when it's just them being nerds in a room together. too bad he was irl insufferable.>>106967131character arc success not show success
>>106966967There was one ep when they hired a game dev and he ended up fucking everything and revealing he was a fraud that faked his CV all the way into fame. That's pretty much the experience.A real interesting show would adapt the real stories of the old studios of lore.
>>106966967>>106967034>Vijay, the Indian immigrant to America that came from Mexico border during Biden admin wants a job real bad at Apple.>He's applied to the company 3 times already but they reject him >He sees his room mate, Rajesh, a trans LatinX, get accepted at Microsoft on first try>After discussion with Rajesh, he finds out the secret to getting hired>Vijay goes to clinic to have his penis cut off>Vijay then identifies as a trans Muslim brotherhood and a Palestine>He immediately gets hired by Apple>His first day at job is trying to awkwardly pass as a trans Muslim Palestine at his work>Comedy ensues
90% of /g/ has never seen pic related because it's Canadian. Despite good ratings, the CBC cancelled it after one 13 episode season. It ends on a cliff hanger but not one you'll be all that upset about not being resolved. If you want another show to watch about software developers, in case, video game developers, give it a go.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJaYRKoVdsY
Was there a porn version?
>>106960806Sort of but businesses have repeated problems while trying to scale and they mixed it up well enough. Peter Gregory was sorely missed though.
>>106967624That's good to hear, I was getting the sense it would lean into romcom and derail but sounds like it doesn't.
Despite being a huge part of the economy, the public isn't all that interested in the people of the tech industry. Pic related was yet another series about start up culture. It had one season of eleven episodes and then was cancelled. If you have Prime, you probably can get it for free.
>>106960754the series while accurate in some details really really wanted to make everyone in tech look bad in the worst possible way so they flanderized a ton of crap.
