Is this literally the best distro?
>>
why might it be?
>>
>>106966216
It would be if they would just fucking give up on snaps already.
>>
You can see by the crown that the Ubuntu team was infiltrated by the British Monarchy to subtly promote monarchism to the British people just as the republican protests are becoming big

Snaps are fine
>>

Kubuntu built upon the LTS probably is.
>>
>>106966254
Wasn't it broken until recently?

Wrong.

Wrong.

No argument.

idk. Works on my machine and mostly always has. Easy, pretty, configurable, lots of documentation (inherited from Ubuntu)

if you install a snap app with an apache server, it is not possible to update missing features in the snap app like .htpassword

I want to like kde I really do but it's so clunky and bloated.
>>
>>106966447
Maybe. I'm not as offended by functionality bloat. Clunky I can't agree with.
>>

God-tier distro
>>
>>106966636
I tested it out on kubuntu the last time. Menu and sliiders were laggy. Applets glitched out and disappeared. Stuff like that. Little things add up.
>>
>>106966730
I had an issue with having two monitors that weren't on the same frame rates initially when I switched, but that ended up being a well known X problem. I haven't had such issues with sliders or menus, but I'm sure I would judge KDE strongly if so.
>>
>>106966230
This. Snaps are a solution in search of a problem.
>>
>>106966216
Ubuntu is the Python of distros. It just works and gets the job done. But /g/ hates it because it doesn't make you look hardcore.
>>
Pretty much the only distro with spyware and anti-privacy inclinations. There's a reason why they're a niche distribution and mint, a derivative, is one of the largest and far more popular.
>>
the last time i used ubuntu was 2009

I didn't know that Canonical is British until you point it out.

Usually if there is a lot of debate about which is better A or B it either means that A and B can do the same thing but were designed for different requirements (eg vim vs emacs) or A and B are just two implementations of exactly the same thing and it doesn't really matter (rust and c++). Ubuntu vs gentoo is the former, gentoo is for hardcore sysadmins who need tight control and ubuntu is for end user that just need a distro spinned up quickly. Distro debate threads are the most dogshit low effort threads shitting up this board 24/7.

imagine not using a node version manager, why would you install node via the OS packet manager?
