Actually fonts have a lot of science that go into them, they're quire incredible.

Berkely Mono - Amazing (Pay to win)
Consolas - Best(Free)
Verdana - Best(Free)

Edges are easier to perceive to humans, so fonts are designed with this in mind.

Fonts actually store the method that was used to draw the character so it can be resized *precisely*.

A regular resize function doesn't work so well.

A lot of tech and science goes into these.

Did you know that monospaced fonts align very nicely, as they are the same size.

Did you know characters all share the same 0-255 character ids, so their font can be changed? This is known as ascii.

Did you know that the letters lL1iI are commonly ambiguous amongst fonts, but so are oO0.
This *appears* to be an overlooked factor of font designs.

Did you know that since characters have methods in them, you can call those methods and place additional symbols inside your character:

This is known as diacritics.

B612 is a font from Airbus where they paid researchers to develop a highly legible fonts for cockpit screens.

i tried using berkeley mono. i didn't like it.
>>
>>106968353
And yet you can a have a font containing more than 65536 characters, pretty lame for the 21s century, ohhh yeah don't forget about multiple encoding, each one incompatible with each other, and of course multiple ways to encode the glyphs data, ohhh yeah now you need you to use a library to do sharping instead of using a data oriented sharping algorithm and don't forget to include ICU in all of your projects to support UNICIDA correctly.
>>
>>106968998
I mean shaping not sharping, fuck. Mods will fix it.

Did you faggots know that the ascii codes for lowercase and uppercase differ by 32? You can switch cases by flipping a bit! Wowzers!!!!

glad i found this thread anon. berkely mono is a slam dunk once i get a full time job. been hunting for a good monospace with an airport terminal feel.

>>106971267
search for the previous font thread w/the link to the files. it's not actually very good in use.

>>106971371
yeah probably looks ass for terminal or code editor. was planning to try it on the branding/marketing side of things.

It looks better in gnome-terminal for some reason
I like it but MonoLisa is what I use when SF Mono isn’t an option
>>
>>106968353
Here are the actually good, science fonts:
B612 - Made by Airbus for airplane cockpits.
Computer Modern - Made programmatically by Donald Knuth himself, and is the reason why LaTeX looks so much more beautiful than anything else.
Go - Rob Pike's based Plan 9 autistic aesthetics with professional guidance from Bigelow & Holmes.
>>
>>106968353
Berkeley Mono is pure cringe. The guy's LARPing as a font boomer so much it's unreal. It's like the American Psycho business card scene, but unironically.

There are actual fonts built for legibility like this one for Airbus aircrafts cockpits: https://github.com/polarsys/b612
Doesn't even look good lmao.

Fonts are personal. Pick one you like and move on. No need to obsess over meme-tier metrics.
Top-tier programmers don't even bother changing the default font or color theme.
>>
If you're after legibility there's Intel Mono One.
