Why have small tablets basically died out? 12 years ago we had stuff like the Nexus 7 and it was great.
Nowadays only Apple makes a decently usable small (8 inches or below) tablet, all Android ones have terrible displays and weak specs in general.

"Died out"? It was never a trend to begin with.
>>
>>106971222
They were much more popular in the past
>>
>>106971254
There's 8 billions people on planet Earth.
How many % them adopted "small tablets", at its peak? 0.01%? 0.001%?

It was never a thing.

whats the point of a phone sized tablet

What's the point of a tablet sized phone?
>>
>>106971301
It's not phone sized, it's the sweet spot between the size of a regular phone and a regular tablet. It's the best form factor for watching stuff lying on the side in your bed. Phone screens are too small.
>>
Do people still buy tablets in general anymore?
>>
>>106971300
>It was never a thing.
I never claimed it was the biggest trend and everyone had one. I just noticed that today there are less small tablet models than in the past. That's all.
>>
>>106971316
My mom does. Mostly to play bridge in front of TV.
She also step on the damn thing, by accident, twice a year on average.
So I can personally vouch that at least two tablets are still bought yearly, at the present time.

Same with mine. She sneezes all over it too so you can feel the hardened remnants of her flem when she asks you to sort something out on it.

Doing that won't uncuck the world back to old normal

Phones got larger. The gap between the two blurred to the point phones and tablets have similar sizes, similar hardware, similar software... There's no divide between them anymore, it's all the same.

Apple and Samsung pretty much won the tablet market. If people wanted to spend more, they might as well get a bigger tablet, they're not going to spend more than $150 on a tablet barely larger than their phone.
The iPad mini is a special case because so many businesses use it as POS machines, restaurant ordering, digital signage, etc. It's a $650 5G iPad vs. $7k for a custom windows system.

I miss netbooks

Fuck you

What's wrong with chromebooks?
I got a shitty 11" lenovo and flashed an open bios to it. It runs Linux mint with 17 hours battery life, all for $130.
>>
>>106971474
current 13 inch laptops are bezel-less so are similar in size are also cheap when used
>>
>>106971312
Yes, they use them instead of pacifiers.
>>
>>106971210
them dying out was bearable when phones were getting bigger
the real catastrophe is that small tablets dying out got followed by 16:9 phones also dying out, using new phones to read or write stuff feels like shit

why buy a tablet with 7 inches when any phone has 6 inches? Are you stupid?
>>
>>106973668
Because 6 inches is too small for watching videos

They peaked with the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0" in 2015.
>crisp 320ppi AMOLED HD display
>3GB RAM, which is still usable with most apps if you aren't into gaming (I recommend flashing LineageOS and buying the SM-T810 model)
>lightweight and thin, but has a battery that can be replaced fairly easily and cheap on eBay
>and speaking of cheap, you can buy one of these for 30-50 bucks used
I mean, if you're looking for something that can handle more graphically-intense apps or games, I wouldn't recommend this tablet. I don't know how well a 2015-era Snapdragon would handle with those.
But, if you're into using this for media like watching youtube, reading books, or web browsing, it's buttery smooth.
I've suggested this tablet for those who just want to use it for basic things and not spend so much, and it's OLED. (most small tablets today are LCD)

>buying the SM-T810 model
Brainfart. I meant to say SM-T713 model, not the T810.
