So i just graduated from college and landed an internship as a Dev. They gave me some programming work, some documentation etc while I was interning. Out of the 3 months I was interning Only 1 was programming. Now I got hired and have been working for another 3 months at the same place but all I've done was documentation and PowerBI work.
I fucking hate this PowerBI shit. I want to program and from what I understood the last guy that had these PowerBI clients passed them all to me so its basically all I'm gonna be doing. Mind you I havent touched a line of fucking code since I got it... I dont even know if I can even program anything anymore.

My title is Developer Analyst. How fucked am I is this normal while starting or some shit. The urge to kill myself from this nothing burger soulless work grows by the day. And most of the day I dont even work cause I dont understand shit about PowerBI and I had no formation on the matter

this isn't abnormal. learn to like it. become the expert on PowerBI.

Do you just stare at charts all day? People pay money to do this

Analytics is the new software engineering. Except that software engineering required some skill and knowledge, whereas 99% of analysts in any discipline are just reading things and writing down the things they read. Just ride the wave nigga soon you'll be making 200K a year for reading graphs and wondering why you even exist.

what business does a "dev" have making graphs kek

being the PowerBI guy is great, it's just like tableau where you just focus on linking data sources and using APIs. There is extremely minimal coding and with public documentation you could probably get AI to teach you exactly what needs to get done for most scenarios. The hard part is coming up with visualizations that keep the audience happy, and the trick is to not accept much if any input and have confidence in your own opinion

PowerBI is driven by Power M which is a subset of F#
You can actually see and edit and even develop in Power M by clicking the dropdown thing at the top of Power BI Desktop on the screens where you develop the queries that provide input to the visuals.
Custom visuals can also be developed in R.
Then there's the ETL work in SQL and SSAS to develop the data models that get sucked into Power BI.
Then there's some API development to let you develop ODATA models that get sucked into Power BI.
Think of Power BI as the front-end of a data analytics stack.
It is development if you get deep in there and learn it. There is more to Power BI than keyboard clacker draggy and droppy mouse clicky monkey.
Like most microsoft technologies there is the toy level development and the real-developer level development. Way too many people master the toy level development features and think they are a developer. It sounds like you want to be a real developer and this is possible within Power BI and actually necessary.
See this first job as a stepping stone into the front-end development of anlaytics delivery to idiot BA's, master that, learn to gather requirements from idiot BA's in the process, and it will eventually lead into the backend data science or backend developer work.
TLDR: it is a good starting point, focus on outgrowing it, mastering it, and moving on but taking those skills with you.
