Don't write shit off immediately. Even if it doesn't seem like AI is a good fit, tell them you'll take some time to research the usecase, and come back with a report of why it's not a good fit. Boom, you're getting paid to jerk off for a day or two since you had AI write that report in 5 minutes. Better yet, come up with a good usecase for "implementing AI" that will make excite them and then "spend a few weeks" on it.

The technologies we use like Ruby and Docker are sparse enough in documentation that GPT 4.1 hallucinates a bunch despite my coworkers being way too confident in it. And I know I'm going to end up having to clean up that repository soon. In this job market I wouldn't even be mad about being the ChatGPT janitor but don't sell me on it, save the cognitive dissonance.

Same here actually. I don't know why I would have expected anyone to say anything. The guy who sits next to me says gm sometimes. We're not on the same team though, so that's it. There's one guy I see occasionally who's from the team I used to be on, but he completely ignores me. Won't even acknowledge me.

I don't see my manager as a respectable human for several reasons, a major one being I eclipse his hard and soft skills. I'm considering asking the dept head if I could be my own boss. I'd be a lot more motivated with my role, rather than being seen as having less skill or vision than this current guy.
