How come they are in an endless loop of fixing and breaking shit?
KDE 5 last minor was perfect, no bugs, smooth, fast
KDE 6 was completely broken
The last KDE update was also smooth and good enough
The latest one is full of BUGS AGAIN, why do we have to wait for 15 patch updates to have a stable desktop again just for it to go downhill the next minor?
>>
>>106976579
Is there any jeet in the devs?
>>
>>106976579
this has always been the KDE cycle, it used to take way longer, KDE 5 wasn't good until a few minor releases before the first LTS release, KDE 4 was a shitfest until shortly before KDE 5 released
KDE priorities seem to have become fucked up thanks to new leadership since a year ago or so, I'd guess that's why they started to break more shit

Win11, btw.

KDE: rhymes with 'gay'de, people say 'krash' with a k, easily made fun of
GNOME: retarded suggested pronunciation. bloated, foot fetish logo, easily made fun of
Xfce: easily called 'xfeces', outdated and looks like windows 3.1 levels of obsolete. easily made fun of
Cinnamon - normal, good looking. nobody makes fun of

Unfortunately if you have a tablet pc and you need touchscreen you don't have other choices if not KDE or GNOME (the experience sucks on both, but at least you have the bare minimum)

It's time to embrace tradition. Revert to KDE 3.5. You know you want to. https://trinitydesktop.org/

ebussy's use-case driven development proven superior yet again. GNOME hasn't had major bugs in many releases now.

They forked those libadwaita apps which no doubt makes GNOME devs seethe.

Ehh. Technically ya. But it's already really really old and you're going to get more incompatibility. i was told by the wage cucks IT people at my work they don't really like making new 2019s and would prefer people go to 2022. Probably some extended release licensing bs.

I call it "bloatware tax". The more features you add to a program, the more bugs you have. And when the people who added the feature fucked off, it became unmaintained and broke in a couple of updates.
KDE, because they still have this youngish mentality of "let's allow everything, and we'll sort it later." IS HEAVILY TAXED. They try to appeal to everyone, trying to fill the needs of everyone with a shitload of features that are, in fact, "very niche" at best, and then they end up with a product that is garbage for everyone.
GNOME realised that and decided that they will not try to be the DE perfect for everyone. Their focus is on a DE that appeals to a large number of users that want something that looks nice out of the box, that feels right when using, that doesn't require a billion features and, above all, want something that works 100% of the time. And they excelled at their objective. GNOME is by far the most beautiful DE out of the box. And by a long shot, the most stable.

mainstream support ended a year ago, so strictly security updates forward. yet no issues and i use this as a desktop doing anything you can imagine including some multiplayer games with anticheats

i'll switch over to 2022 when i make a whole new build, this just works so well and i have everything set up just how i like it. heard 2022 has been somewhat flimsy in regards to its updates so its best to wait until it leaves mainstream support
>>

>>106977801
>i'll switch over to 2022 when i make a whole new build
with a pre-2021 CPU that is. everything turned to shit after that anyway.
>>

Gnome is equally retarded, just in the opposite direction.
Here's one for you - If an application wants to open a terminal, like for managing a wine prefix in Lutris, Gnome only accepts a HARDCODED predefined list of terminal apps that can be called. Only way to load up a different terminal with error is to fucking symlink and spoof the one you want to use as one of the 'approved' ones.
There's pushing 'usecases', and then there's refusing to comprehend the Halting Problem and that you can't predict every legitimate use case. At least KDE gives you configurability to work around things easily.
>>
>>106978052
>predefined list of terminal apps that can be called.
yes, GNOME is designed to be predictable, that is why is more stable.
>>
>>106978217
Design intent and actual execution are two very different things unfortunately
