>People say they've "debloated their Windows" all the time, but have any of them actually checked to see if that was true?

https://cy-x.net/articles?id=11 - You shouldn't care about aesthetics (use Classic theme, retard), but rather about the inherent performance and functionality of the computer.

HERES UR """DEBLOATED"" WINBLOWS 10 BRO
SENDING CONNECTIONS TO MICROSOFT EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU OPEN A FILE ON YOUR COMPUTER
IMAGINE HOW BAD IT IS ON 11

https://sizeof.cat/post/windows-telemetry/

>Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 (what nu-/g/ shills): 20 connections
>Windows Server 2019 (what 2022-nu/g/ shilled): 32 connections
>Windows 7 Professional: 1 connection

>usecase for respecting privacy?
Enjoy sending telemetry to Microsoft only for your OS to get worse every time a new release comes out.
10 users are in the same bus as 7 users. Might as well downgrade to 7 once everything magically stops working on 10 despite working in the same environment prior, amirite?
10 does not magically become a privacy respecting, optimized OS after support is dropped. It is still a frankenstein combination of old native code and XAML bullshit among whatever other "frameworks" Microsoft plops onto their OSes now.

You've been doing the same exact thing with your computer you were doing a decade ago. Why upgrade if you aren't invested in AAA gayming

nobody using windows is going to be in the mood to tinkertranny in the terminal when something basic breaks
and we don't want to use your bloated fucking distros that eat up gigabytes of ram on my fucking hardware for a desktop environment
freebsd works but you have to manually set shit up and tinkertranny even more but atleast you don't have to start out by uninstalling worthless bullshit
>xorg can't start in framebuffer mode
windows and mac work for what they're designed for
linux and freebsd work for what they're designed for

linux and freebsd => server OS and they do that well
^ it CANNOT into desktop correctly without incoherent bullshit 24/7

why bother going back to 7 when I could switch to linux

Installing gentoo would be less stupid.
And I'm not suggesting gentoo...

So I found (for real) an old HP Xeon workstation Z400 in a snowbank out by my place last winter (I live in a rural location). It had no hard drive and the side was open. Snow and dirt were inside and outside the machine. I dried it out and cleaned it up as best I could and it's sat for almost 8 months until today and I finally tried it out. Holy shit, it kinda works! It didn't light on fire or start smoking. Thing has no hard drive but I had a small 80 GB one just to test it with. Thing is spitting out complaints about the RAM and the bios battery/time. OK, so I re-seat all the RAM and put in a new Bios battery for the time/settings. It COMPLETELY works! Now for an OS. It began life on Vista as there is a sticker on the case. There is also a Win 7 sticker too. So, I throw Win 7 upgrade DVD in the drive just to see if that works. It DOES! Completely takes the OS just fine. Yay! Free computer! So I decide to nuke that install and put on Win 10 LTSC IoT as everyone on here suggested and from here https://massgrave.dev/windows_ltsc_links

IT FUCKING WORKS! IS ACTIVATED! I'm floored! It's updating all the updates now and has found all the drivers for everything just fine. Zero issues. Even the USB wireless adapter to get the updates!

THANK YOU /g/ You are the fucking best hoomans on the planet...lol...well, no you aren't but one of you was to help me out. A LEAF from Canada, you're super leaf to me! I thank thee!

I will figure out how to de-telemetrize it later on. But for now, I am stoked!

Using Mint as a base OS with virtual box running 7, 10 LTSC IoT and 11 LTSC IoT VMs is where I'd go if I had a powerful enough machine with enough RAM, CPU and hard drive space (or preferably SSD space). That way I'm the fucking boss.

>Using Mint as a base OS with virtual box running 7
Peak computing setup right there
>>
>>106977465
ok, but can 7 run modern games?
>>
>>106977880
but isn't mint using a lot of closed sourced software for its support?
>>
>>106978400
Depends on your hardware drivers needed, I use a proprietary Nvidia driver. But nothing stops you from using open source xorg driver
>>
>>106978498
isee.
does it still use the apt/dpkg package manager? (does it install .deb files from the terminal)
or do i need to learn a new system all together?
>>
>>106978400
You can download a LiveCD or USB key to try it out if you have that capability (a USB key that's 8 GB or above or a DVD burner still). It won't actually install on your system's drive unless you download that ISO install version. Think: Portable.

All the install info is here: https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/choose.html
>>
I moved from 8.1 to Linux 2 months go, never even touched win10, but that was just my lazy ass not wanting to do a clean install
>>
>>106978657
w10 performs about the same as 8.1, idk what else goes on under the hood, but performance wise, not much different.

still, i would practice the same heuristics whenever a new version comes out, which includes the same suspicions towards microsoft -_-
>>
>>106977465
Lets get down to brass tacks: why is MS forcing us to use Linux? what are they trying to do?

windows 8.1? why not just windows 8, then just release updates?
windows XP?
windows 7?
windows Vista?
windows 10?

anon, the names are coms, can't you get it through your head?
XP = xp (mockery)
Vista = asta la vista (baby) (see ya)
7 = zayin (to be cut off)
8 = ate
8.1 = boobs/belly button/penis (rise of trannies)
10 = i/o = stop the left eye/leave the right (or vice versa, depending on the individual)
11 = vav vav = 66 = stop both eyes
since they know that there's a change going on culturally, they're telling everyone to jump ship to lynn-ox, rather than remaining on the eunuchs operating system.

i thought you niggers knew how to code, and you still dont get it? baka (shake my head, for you 4eyes-nocoders)
in plain english, a large change is coming, and they want you out before you end up manifesting the tranny ire towards a school of children (school of fish?, their fish)
yes, it was always a religious ritual veiled as a technical practice
so ask yourselves, where is this lynnOX?
asia? africa? the middle east?
antarctica?
is it to save you or to save themselves?
what will happen and who will remain?
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY TRANNIES?!?!
WHERE WILL THIS END UP!!

dont ask questions you dont want answered anon, just install linux, debian 12 is pretty stable.
>>
I switched to w7 because I didn't wanted to be chained to the teet of the linux ecosystem any longer. It is incredibly freeing to know that shit will never break in the future. If you are coming from linux as I was, then you make be surprised how much you can tweak and customize w7 as well.

>>
>>106979209
Yes.

Linux is an "always online" service and is extremely dependent on updates. This is fine for a server but ridiculous for personal desktop use.

>>106978552

A friend of mine who games on PC but has zero interest in tinkering recently asked me if SteamOS was something he could put on his computer instead of Windows. This is someone who has never opened a terminal in his life, and he's actively looking into alternatives due to the state of Windows.

Normies are getting fed up with Microsoft's shenanigans and Linux becomes more of a viable alternative for every usecase each year. I actually hope Microsoft keeps making these horrible decisions and updates.
