Why aren't file manager wallpapers a thing? Most times you boot your PC, it's either gonna be to head over to the browser, or to head over to the file manager, you barely spend any time at your desktop, and while most browsers do allow you to set a home page wallpaper, you also barely spend any time at your home page. Meanwhile, it's not that rare to spend a lot of time sorting files, so a wallpaper would be nice.Pic unrelated
good point.
>>106978411Too much processing power to be worth saving 2 fucking seconds
>>106978411the real redpill is to make all program uis transparent and so you can always see portions of your desktop background no matter what programs are open, and even if a program is fulledscreened.
>>106978461that looks great in the desktop thread not for daily use
>>106978461based but people usually make the transparency too strong which limits the readability of text. you should mostly see a blur of colors instead of any detail from the wallpaper
The Enlightenment desktop does that
>>106978411apparently you can on finder. pic rel was a gif btw, and it works as a wallpaper
>>106978461that's more like a ricing retardpill
>>106979162This.

Since everyone asked, personally I think any kind of transparency is a meme. But if you wanna do it, well I can't stop you, although I would if I could.
>>106978411back in the GNOME 2 days you could set a wallpaper or background pattern for Nautilus, the file manager. It was taken out because "there's no use case for this"
>>106979723>software gets updated>features removedim so fucking tired of this.
>>106978411Rox Filer can do this, though you have to edit a config file.
>>106978411KDE3/Trinity has this. But good idea for sovl ricing.
Your command line is your file manager, and most terminal emulators support opacity.
>>106980919What about images and videos>Use descriptive namesI ain't renaming every thing I download>You still need to open them to see what they areTrue, but a lot of times thumbnails are enough
>>106978411>>106980689#viewSplitter *::pane > QFrame{background-image: url("/fullpathtomywallpaper.png");}OK, after 30 minutes of tinkering I got this working. If you happen to use PCManFM-qt and qt6ct you can paste this into a style sheet in qt6ct.
#viewSplitter *::pane > QFrame{background-image: url("/fullpathtomywallpaper.png");}
>>106981008lf or other TUI file managers that support ueberzug for previewsAlso nsxiv has a thumbnail mode>how do I drag and drop my anime reaction images for shitposting?https://github.com/mwh/dragon
>>106978411Windows XP experienced with things like HTML page as a background in the old days. But it never took off. (welp the fact it was relying on some watered down IE engine probably didn't help)
