This would've probably be successful if there was just a single client that was usable but after 12 years of development there is not a single client with reliable call, screenshare with audio, self deleting messages or even goddamn stickers. I thought this was supposed to be free and open with every possible configuration and addon possible. What the fuck are they cooking?

The German government uses Matrix for communication.

because making a backend is easy, its the frontend development thats hard
>>

Sounds like the perfect job for the frontend dev career ending AIs I have been hearing so much about
>>
what makes this get more mention than wire?
>>
>>106978944
They completely fucked things up by sticking with their resource wasting shitty python server implementation instead of focusing on at least their Go rewrite.

would have been more successful if anons didn't work out it was shitware designed by an israeli corporation that works for mossad and nsa. jews failed pretty hard. apparently they shilled matrix hard for several years only in order to secure a lucrative communications contract to provide a secure chat protocol for EU's digitization of communications. EU realized it was shit and entangled in glownigger web so XMPP won instead. XMPP is a simpler protocol and not compromised/linked to jewish sandnigger spies.

pic related: screenshots of mossad glowies being blurred out of videos

matrix 2.0 spec, it will finally merge the first party voice, and screen sharing and shit: https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals/pull/4143
it's unironically just a few weeks away, then element just has to update their client (and so do your servers)

Not possible, by design.

The conversations are not stored in the client, but in a server that you can host yourself. Has a range of client and server software implementations.

I liked Wire back in the day, but they absolutely fucked their Android app and they didn't allow you to run the Web app on mobile. At least with Matrix you can go from one shitty client to another.

IRCv3 and XMPP won.

Did that matrix p2p thing they talked big about years ever go anywhere in a practical/useable manner or did they can it?
>>
>>106981646
it didn't go anywhere. just like the homeserver implementation in go.

I'm still salty that I wasted my time contributing to that in the hopes that they finally replace synapse that fucking piece of garbage

Yeah figures

Anon, I know plenty of people who use Matrix. I know zero who use XMPP.

Honestly pretty impressive. I've also heard some of their regional public sectors are switching to linux. This should be the logical conclusion when big tech is owned by the americand and China, but for some reason other euro countries don't wanna follow the lead. Germany should grow some balls and push foss adaptation as a EU wide projec

Stopped reading there, delusional glownigger

Why would it not be possible? Of course servers can refuse to delete messages but you can also refuse to interact with people on these servers

No but their CEO mentioned it in his last talk

You'd also have to refuse to interact with people who don't use an official unmodified client. If you need that level of control, why even bother using a self-hostable ecosystem protocol.
>>
>>106982569
That's a stupid statement because in other messengers with self deleting messages you could also just take screenshots before they get deleted. There is no guarantee that something gets deleted by others but at least if someone else would get access to my account they wouldn't be able to read these messages after they got deleted from my homeserver.
>>
>>106982707
Fair enough. I guess the devs don't really care about making it a feature because there's not really a way to ensure the server will comply.
>>
>>106982477
get back into the oven, you filthy kike.

Germany is an US vassal state.
Their chancellor would get JFK'd if he/she tried to "grow some balls".
>>
>>106978944
the nicest thing i can say about matrix is that it's not ms teams. all clients are buggy as shit in various ways, the servers require an insane amount of storage and resources to provide chat (because the protocol is federated, even though chat rooms are always in control of one party anyway).
element doesn't strip EXIF and GPS metadata from images, the only chat client that doesn't have this basic privacy feature.
