How usable is bone-stock AOSP without GMS if I just want to use my phone for calls and texts? It's a Motorola, I've gotten the bootloader unlocked but the only ROMs seemingly available for it are GSIs.

There is no usable lagdroid anyway. You can try meme roms, but it does not change anything.

you can manually install apk's its how fdroid functions from the beginning problem is iver the years more and more apps sucked in googles telemetry subsystem to get paid and might refuse to function
