Our naive optimistic plan had been to ship a Vulkan renderer with a similar feature set for Android... our last couple titles were iOS only so we'd assumed the android situation had stabilised a bit by now.It turns out that even GLES3 is too much to ask of certain devices, never mind Vulkan. We've decided to blow the dust off our old GLES2 renderer and just ship that. It means the Android version looks far far worse than the iOS one, but in practice that's completely acceptable. Android users are either used to it or don't know any better. Anyone who has high standards for phone games buys an iphone. The important thing is that it runs (and shows ads) on as many phones as possible.
