I'm gonna attempt to go offline for a while because I have Internet addiction. Any programs or files I should download before I unplug my ethernet for a few weeks?

media converters, stuff like mediahuman's audio converter, xnconvert, etc
just in case you gotta flac to mp3 or turn heics into jpegs
>>
Don't you have books or something else you can do? What exactly do you plan on doing while offline? Asking this because I'm also planning to go offline once the semester finishes.

I'm within walking distance of my library and I have a big backlog of books. But mostly catching up on games and going through my old DVD collection.

oh shit, welcome to the club
as someone who does regular internet breaks i recommend just stocking up to dive into a hobby for an extended period of time as a primary distraction and fill in other idle time with media, books, video, music, etc
set yourself some kind of goals within the time, schedule everything, it makes passing the time feel productive again as opposed to idle time you can forget without issue

Movies, games, music, porn. Buy books.
AI so that you ask random questions you need.
Obviously you need porn, trust me you won't be scrolling through a recommendation algorithm, pick one porn artist you will get bored of it and stop masturbating.

Like I cannot explain this to you.
You can keep like 18 videos of a single porn artist on your computer go offline and you won't be watching them as often as you would if you went online.

Documentation, tutorials, you can also download offline stackoverflow/wikipedia but it's kinda hard to use/search through with the program that you can use it with.
Hence why I suggested AI instead, maybe you can do agentic search or find a better than I did for having an offline version of wikipedia+stackoverflow.
Especially stackoverflow is really annoying to search through when it isn't through their search engine or google.

What's the point of unplugging if you're just gonna spend the days indulging in cheap escapism? If you wanna do it, do it properly, raw dog this shit.

A pile of math books (plus PDFs for search/markup), compiler, text editor with whatever plugins you need, and in my case Mathematica and some VHDL software. I could probably be content with that for several months offline.

I just went back from a 2 week internet vacation. A big chunk of my day I spent it exercising or taking my dog for walks. And in my free time I watched TV shows or played videogames. Honestly it was pretty boring, and also lonely. I couldn't find much to do.

pdfs yuck least your trojans wont be able to contact their command and control being offline for now
>>

Oh, and leaving the internet for 2 weeks didn't cure my addiction, at all. Now I'm back and using it a lot again. But overall I would say it was worth it and gave me new perspectives in the way I should consume the internet.

I spent 17 or so days without internet a few years ago because I couldn't afford to pay the bill, and well, I spent most of my free time reading and watching anime. It was kinda comfy though, and I documented everything in my blog at the time, journal-style. After that I started journaling seriously too because I enjoyed writing about my meaningless days and thoughts.
