Your problem is that it's an extremely oversaturated and competitive market right now and noobs will have tremendeous difficulties landing a job in the field. And even if you do, it's going to be worse than the cleaning lady job. Might as well get another job for now, and if your heart is really into this, do coding on the side. Do some software for 5 years and eventually you'll get hired by a good company for good pay. If you last 3+ years, you'll have a job for life. Realize that you need to find a way to stand out simply because there are so many of you out there. Also right now programming jobs suck in general, if you are doing it for the clout and not because you love it, you'll want to eat a gun at some point. There are infinitely better jobs in the CS field that pay more, are better and don't require you to code beyond a complete beginner level.

Unlike for my junior job, you don't need to program in C++, C# and web languages simultaneously to be considered a pro junior.
For a good 90% of junior-mid jobs all you need is someone who isn't a complete moron. Tell him to use a version-control software of your choosing like git or whatever and control his work every now and then.
Preferably with a somewhat accessible mid-senior guy to answer domain knowledge questions if given project requires that.(assuming that this mid-senior guy cannot deal with it himself because he has other things to do)

the current trend here in my yurop country is that laying people off is difficult, so companies tend to hire cavalierly and then fire just before the employee would gain any labor law protections from the probation ending. they only used to do this in blue collar but it has infected tech now too. it isn't actually all that profitable to hire and fire like this, they just do it because management is too incompetent

either way the end result is that if you pick the wrong company to work for, you will have to work crazy hard to catch up and become useful, and then they will go "hm nah not feeling it" and you end up with a 6 month stint at a company that just screams "i am useless retard" in your cv. or you just choose to have it as a gap. either way you're fucked in your subsequent job search
