Why does a fridge need to be able to call people
>>106991730I too talk to my fridge but it's not very smart fridge
>>106991739What do you talk about
Why does a phone needs to do anything more than call/text?
>>106991752the fact that he's so chill all the time
>>106991856Let's be honest calling them phones is just a semantic relic at this point. 99.99% of a smartphone's use is not as a phone.
>>106991892I mostly use mine just for that. I never do shit on my phone tho I don't have zoomer brain
>>106991892The only real thing I love about modern phones is that I actually have a decent camera with me at all times.Other than that, I miss the Blackberry Z30 or whatever it was. It was amazing at being a phone-phone.
>>106991856>call/textIf you're already conceding text messages then you might as well pick up all the other low hanging fruit avail to hardware with a display, input, and mid-range radio.
>>106991899Smart phones are like max goyware, It feels demeaning trying to do anything on them and everything is just so dumbed down and streamlined to make sure you get all the garbage shoved right into your brain at maximum efficiency. Top it all off they're hardware level spyware connecting to 3rd party towers and anything that emulates a 3rd party tower and all the software is shit for them. And now, the absolute peak goytardation is we're heading into the mandatory digital ID era which will be phased in via goyphones and a new level of humiliation will be achieved. I'm done with it
mods can you ban this misogynist please
>>106991730cube machine water filter replace taim
>>106991730So when someone calls you and asks "Is your fridge running?" you can catch it right away.
>>106991730my fridge calls the beer delivery guy everytime I'm getting low. love that lil fella
>>106991730Don't think just consoom
>>106991934yeah, same (mostly). I use mine exclusively for the camera, the god forsaken apps known as Whatsapp and Telegram, and hotspot when traveling
because your trophy turbo-roastie wife needs something to do so she won't go postal
>>106991730It doesn't. Those are status symbols for people with money and techy people who want to live in a smart home. You can easily buy a regular fridge that only does refrigerator stuff
So it can chill
>>106991730I seriously don't understand the usecase for smart fridges. Is this some amerifat thing where you're too lazy to even walk to the kitchen?
>>106991856why does a computer needs to do anything more than to compute?
>>106991730So it can alert you if someone tries to fucking eat your pizza rolls.
It's all about datamining and building a profile. "Smart" technology has no other purpose.
I don't even pick up the phone if I don't recognize the number and I'm not expecting a call. If it's important, they'll leave a voicemail that I'll check at my convenience and respond depending on if one is required at my convenience.
>>106992650The use case is data harvesting and ads
>>106991730I want a fridge with an API so that I can set and get the temperature with my favorite programming language, or get a notification when something is almost empty. I mean I like tech, and this is a technology board, why wouldn't I want something like that? Of course, all I will actually get is a fridge with closed source software, a terrible user interface, and a permanent connection to the manufacturer.
>>106993044>or get a notification when something is almost emptyI don't consoom a lot so I don't have this problem
>>106993037NTA, but you can not present data collection as a feature to the user. So, what's the sales pitch for the consoomer here? Why buy this?
>>106993275Sure, it was just an example. I don't know if you program, or at least write scripts to make programs on your computer do things. I do, and I'd love if I could treat every device in my house like a program and write a shell script to combine their functionality, or do something only if some other thing did something. I don't even have a persuasive example, but before I knew how to program I also didn't know why I would want to do so. I'm all for smart devices, but this needs standardization, and everything I see is just pure dogshit. Damn, let me adjust the brightness of my lamp in Python, and not in some buggy proprietary Android app.
>>106991934>>106992390honestly i picked up a cheap point n shoot style DSLR and even though its sensor is "worse" as per the datasheets than a phone, just having a real lens at all and the sheer size of the sensor makes the photos taken with it so much better. I can't go back to using a smartphone camera now, even the really good ones are still junk compared to a real proper standalone camera.picrel it's one of these
>>106994604>cheaphow much?
>>106991872i never broke the ice with mine
Thread died. I think taking lots of vitamin c and avoiding salt makes women give daughters.
>>106994824I paid 250 for mine in the 2020s and got ripped the fuck off. They were about that much MSRP when they were new in 2013. Looking them up just now for this very post, they seem to go from between 150 to 300 bux off of ebay and such. Mine only came with the stock 2-5x lens, though iirc some SKUs came with a pancake instead of the 2-5x.It's a half-decent camera though. Only glaring fault is it doesn't have a viewfinder, but most cheap cameras have digital rangefinders anyway so they're pointless. Also it doesn't have any known drivers to use it as a webcam except in the jankiest possible way (you can pipe its screen to a TV and use that with a capture card, that's about it even though Nikon supports direct use with a PC with other camera lines) but that is a VERY niche use case.
>>106993044>so that I can set and get the temperature with my favorite programming language, whyalso your frige isnt the same temp top to bottom because of how the compressor coils are typically arranged (and this is a happy accident because you can then store ALL your food in the same box despite different foods liking different temps for best preservation)
>>106992062How though, if the fridge is running you can't press the answer button on it because who the fuck can outrun a fridge
>>106995708>>106992062these are the posts i come to 4chan for
>>106991730The smart fridge has to be one of the most idiotic pieces of shit ever made, whoever is deliberately spending tons of money buying these things is a fucking retard. This is indian-tier technology that only an indian-brained subhuman would ever want in their house. Whoever owns one of these things deserves to get spied on and have their nudes leaked by Indian tech support workers backdooring into the fridge camera.
>>106995748obsessed; indians dont refrigerate their food. this is 100% WASP territory like the juicero and that one "smart" salt/pepper shaker
>>106995658Alright, thanks for the advice. Have a great afternoon
>>106996137I won't and I'll like it, thank you
>>106991872>>106994890
>>106995777Hard to say WASP when any ethnicity would buy this bullshit if they had an overinflated salary. And that's really what it boils down to, a certain sect of the population with too much money to reasonably know what to do with and companies looking to take advantage.
>>106993580Just offer discounted pricing.
>>106994922Fingers of a mentally ill Russian typed this post.
>>106991730to call 'service', duh.>>106992160>finally>a usecasefairfucks, you almost convinced me now
>>106991730and why does a dishwawsher do?its just modernity, i guess we only can accept it
>>106996530>and why does a dishwawsher do?unironically the apartment i moved into came with a dishwasher and i have literally never used it. if a home invader with weird fetishes broke in and forced me to wear my maid outfit and "do the dishes" expecting me to bend over all sultry-like exposing my overpriced shimapan whilst loading it instead of standing at attention with my dick wetting the front of my skirt more than splashback of dishwater in front of the sink, I would get shot in the fucking head. I think I opened it once just to see what it looked like but I am unsure of how to even turn it on I could probably figure it out but have never felt a need to even examine the buttons, let alone press any
>>106995678>smart thermostat detects a really hot day out>make the fridge extra cold for super refreshing beveragesThe only real thing I can think of
>>106996635>if a home invader with weird fetishes broke in and forced me to wear my maid outfit and "do the dishes" expecting me to bend over all sultry-like exposing my overpriced shimapan...that sounded very specifictoo specific for my tastes
>>106991730She can stay at my kitchen.
>>106991934Random fact:>The Blackberry KEY2 (not the "LE") is one third of the smartphone GOAT trio. (Along with Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge)
>>106997010CORRECTION:>Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max
>>106996635>orced me to wear my maid outfit and "do the dishes" expecting me to bend over all sultry-like exposing my overpriced shimapan whilst loading it instead of standing at attention with my dick wetting the front of my skirt more than splashback of dishwater in front of the sinkjesus christ
>>106996635>I would get shot in the fucking head.Yeah but it's only a cumshot get over it.
>>106996635what
>>106991730It's just so they have an excuse to put sensors in every room of your house, to feed data into the global LLM powered panopticon. And you'll even pay for it.
>>106997840anon washes his dishes by hand
>>106996635same
>>106996892anon that doesnt require a "smart" fridge, they already have PIDs and temperature sensors to kick in the compressor when the fridge is not at the desired average temperatureyet again techbros demand to implement solutions to problems that were solved in the 70s
>>106991730To better spy in you
