there's a thousand posts here each day about KDE krashing for a reason

I upgraded to 64 GB after getting Fedora KDE and now it runs flawlessly. Worth it to get away from microshit

its normal to see this everyday

trying again in this thread: anybody running mathematica? is it difficult to set up and does it have feature parity with the windows client?
>>106993142wrong thread dumbass
>>106993142You literally just run the installer and call it a day>does it have feature parity with the windows client?Yes
>>106993067True but I have had this Plasma install since April I can't be bothered switching to another window manager. I can only use wayland window managers anyway because my gpu has hardware cursor issues with x11 ( https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3709 ) and there really aren't many decent options other than Plasma

Works on my machine. 16GB here. Check your processes.KDE's control panel alone makes it superior to every other DE out there. If you need something, you can be sure there's an option for it. I found stuff that I didn't even know I needed like automatic profiles for different mice and touch screens. I like GNOME's design but I can't move to it now.
I'll be honest as fuckI despise GNOME but Plasma has gotten worse and worse and worse on my end to the point that I don't even mind switching to GNOME. I don't even mind having to deal with the extensions bullshit. I'm just fucking done with Plasma. Hell I'm willing to let go of Dolphin which is a shame. But ebussy won this one. And even Plasma X11 is getting filled with bugs because they don't even want people to use it anymore. I want to go back to the Plasma 5 late days.
>>106994027Try it. You'll realize that things are even worse in GNOME. I keep going back to KDE even though I want to like GNOME. There hasn't been a good DE for a decade now.
>>106994050There's no try it, I've used GNOME for months in the past. I know what is up. I know I can't set window rules on it, I know I can't have custom views per folder and some other nonsense but again, I am very much willing to put up with that bullshit over Plasma. And the only way I have to fix a scaling issue I have is through a setting that remains on GNOME, but has been removed in Plasma 6. Having fonts not deformed is more important to me than having to do a bunch of extra clicks here and there.
>>106992905 I liked it better than cinnamon but some things are still inconvenient and not even configurable by asking chatgpt. Is there anything more windows-like?
>>106994027>I want to go back to the Plasma 5 late daysDebian 12 or Kubuntu 24.04
>>106994072Are you using HiDPI? I'm just on 1440p so I guess I've never hit bugs related to it.
>>106994100I'm on 1440p as wellFont scaling is not an elegant solution, but with it I have fonts that look sharp and clear. Fractional scaling is all over the fucking place.

>>106992905lmao, and now look at macOS with all the liquid ass and shadows and everything and it runs a machine with less specs than your machine.freetards can't into design, they can't even optimize their fucking DE
doesn't happen on windows
>>106994492>why not 128G?why do you think?>>106994519>now look at macOSpic retarded: top macos 26 via ssg, bottom my main rigmacos 26 is as laggy as kde or gnome is.you click a menu and it takes a few ms to open it up the first time. then you don't do it for another 20 mins and you try again, it again lags a few ms.note this macos config is not out of the box. I had to disable the wallpaperaerialsextension process because it has read 60GB from the ssd.
>>106994618cont'd>>106994519>it runs a machine with less specs than your machine.can you explain why a machine that is used almost 100% for remote development needs to read 60GB from the ssd?I had to work 2 days on this garbage with the GUI and it drags itself through the mud.It performs as fast as an intel 7500U laptop.reminder, benchmarks show my 7950X to be slower than the m2.>inb4. why didn't you buy the m4I have this m2 crap-mini for over 1.5 years and it always sits at 5-10% cpu usage without doing anything.no h/w uprgades will make the GUI snappier, no cpu designer can make any ARM fast.as I said, it feels as if you are working on a 10 year old HP elitebook
>>106994436>>106994293The 6000 CL30 kits weren't available yet
>>106994519The difference is very simple, mein itoddler: I can upgrade my system with more ram, whereas you cannot.
>>106994675this is what a crap-mini looks like when you have open>1 tab with jira msedge>1 tab with gitlab msedge>1 tab with hubstaff msedge>1 qtcreator instance>1 kate instance>1 hubstaff instanceI didn't even have YT open or teams.Anyone who tells you to buy a crap mini for work, is an idiot.Anyone who does work on crap-minis, your work requires RPi4-tier of CPU performance, which is 20 year old desktop CPU performance....and I am not going to fucking rant for all the retarded default settings that the supposed desktop computer called "crap-mini" has, because every fucking setting and shortcut is tailored to a laptop keyboard. you have to spend 2 days fixing the "just works" garbage to fit for desktop use, or you have to press multiple keys to do simple tasks like move the cursor to the start or the end of the line (what the home and end buttons do since the 50s)
