>Affinity pulled the ability to purchase its software>their website just directs you to sign up for some marketing buzzeword like "be the first one to know" "Creative Freedom Is Coming" "see the future first>they also shut down the official forums and pushed everyone to a discord>Affinity was bought by Canva in 2024 and people have been speculating that it will move to subscription modelSo we're back again to just fucking GIMP, huh?Adobe won I guess.
>>106998079They will announce affinity for GNU/Linux.
>Creative Freedom>Now you are free to pay a monthly fee to use the same software instead of being forced to buy it and own it.Kek
>>106998079Well no, we still own the original 1 and 2 Affinity products. They can never steal that from us.
>>106998207And people still own CS6, but it's borderline unusable nowadays.
>>106998079that company was never serious and should go bankruptthey claimed to make a photoshop replacement but during their whole existence couldn't make image zoom, a basic fucking feature, work without completely distorting the entire image, and blamed it on some random hand wavy shiteven MS paint can do thissee this thread:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/161979-view-quality-preference-is-not-respected-when-zoomed-in/
>>106998079>proprietary software does what proprietary software is designed to doif only someone had warned you
>>106998079ripWhen are we gonna get the blender of Photoshop?
>>106998207Look at what Broadcom did to VMware.https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/05/broadcom-sends-cease-and-desist-letters-to-subscription-less-vmware-users/https://www.networkworld.com/article/4028032/broadcom-blocks-vmware-patch-access-for-perpetual-license-holders.html
>>106998079if they announce version 3 with local AI capabilities and single purchase for a permanent license, should we buy it?I mean that's the absolute best scenario but yet, the risk of a rugpull to subscription or some shit is latent now, forever.
>>106999986no
>>106998079Classic
>>106998079Just pirate PS CC
>>106998079>Capitalism disappointed me AGAIN!
>>106998079Did anybody buy this software? Able to still download the software or is it all kill?
>>106998079Use Krita.
>>107000358I use Affinity Photo V2 for all my photo work, you can still DL it. It already has all the features I need for raw editing so I'm not that upset about this but its kind of shitty. They were the one Photoshop alternative that was actually competitive without being overpriced.
>>107000383Thanks. I fear that Affinity might switch to a subscription model.
>>107000383>actually competitive without being overpricedalso known as operating at a loss
>>106998079Oh no, that's genuinely concerning. I use it.>>107000383Thank you anon, I will try to backup the "offline" installers. I need affinity at least until I get ky phd in drawing funny animals.
>>106999729>When are we gonna get the blender of Photoshop?I think Adobe would do some illegal sabotage to stop such a project. And probably get away with it if caught.
>>107000408>I will try to backup the "offline" installers.Okay I bought this software when it was on sale. Not gonna lie I didn't download it because I forgot to.How do you enable an offline installer for this software? Maybe back it up on an external HDD?
>>107000433It literally was in the downloads available in your account.I think inside boxes. And then, I'll prepare a qcow with it and keep it eternally transfering between system installations.
>>107000473Is it too late now?
>>106999342Adobe has done far worse to their UX in the last decade. You're complaining about something most people won't even notice.
>>107000492I do not know, I just woke up.
>>107000498>I just woke up.Funny you say that, I have to sleep right now as I just checked the time after seeing your post.I'll check tomorrow morning for me. If it is too late I'll seethe for a bit and then live a little.
>>107000409but it would still be worth trying
>>107000512It would unironically be worth trying. I just don't see it happening anytime soon.
>>106998079It would be hilarious if they made it a subscription only-service. If that happens, it would be a death sentence for Serif and their products because why bother subscribing to their service when they can just subscribe to Adobe? What's the point?
>>107000507Sleep well anon.
>>106999999Checked
Are cracked versions of Capture One Pro safe?
>>107000576That's impossible to say since it depends on where you get it. I upgrade whenever I get a new lens/camera that isn't supported by whatever version I'm using. But I also use it professionally, so spending a couple hundred dollars every three or four years isn't that bad. If you wait until Black Friday they have pretty good sales. Or at least have in the past.
Seems like a pretty profitable l̶e̶g̶a̶l̶ ̶e̶x̶t̶o̶r̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ business model.>make a competitor to photoshop since adobejeet is garbage now>huge marketing budget>sell product to customers for cheap>hyperscale>sell to buyer make a quick billion>rinse repeatVCs need to keep doing this until Adobe is dead.
