I like the Win11 snipping tool with screen recorder and annotations built in. You can cobble together something similar on Linux but it's not easy.

They should make a linux distro that perfectly copies windows 11 and looks exactly like it and also runs all windows programs normally but without all the bad stuff and also with some cool things linux can do.

This is the exact thing that makes apple so juicy and epic games so epic.
Linux is so behind on paid apple premium features such as being able to install an application on "your" device after downloading it from your no-extensions-allowed apple firefox browser. For only 69 dollars, you can purchase your premium apple dev certificate code so that you don't have to manually renew your certificate on your mac to use all of your 3 apps on your iPhone.

As for old Linux software, you can install an old distro in distrobox and link the program to your app menu very easily. Not that I ever had to do that.

one of the funniest examples I noticed recently is that OpenOffice / LibreOffice save files by default in their retarded format. I had to google how to dig through the settings to change it. There's no option in the installer to set that as a default iirc.

What a fucking retarded choice. This would be like a free program meant to replace Acrobat that saved files in any format other than .pdf by default.

Linux should somehow get rid of retards that think they are smart because they've wasted countless hours learning unintuitive, obtuse command line garbage that's a worse user experience than gui versions just for the sake of being power users. Fags like this one >>107003171

Windows file structure is an absolute shitshow.
It all starts with the retarded driver letters and extends to the absolute pajetware that is Documents and Settings.
I understand that a lot of things in Windows were made by people who don't actually believe computers would improve over time, but come on, System32 as the default for Windows 64 apps? Kill yourself already.

It's absolute suicide to make hardware without Windows support. Mac and Linux support usually come later. In the case of Linux, sometimes things have to be completely reverse engineered which takes time. Microsoft Office is much better than any opensource office suite, but that's a completely different issue. I don't think Windows is very good or important these days, but they have that name going for them.

The only good thing about powershell is the verb-noun convention imo. The problem is that PS is slow as shit and takes several seconds to autocomplete those commands. Also a lot of them don't seem to have aliases for common uses.

I can get how annoying it is to change the default file type of a document, but that's such a retarded nitpick. You only have to do that once per document and LibreOffice supports all the same document types Microsoft Office does. That's not even mentioning that it isn't trying to be the exact same thing as Microsoft Office, so it make sense it has its own format that it uses.

Frankly, I've heard more retarded anti-Linux drivel like this compared to genuinely retarded pro-Linux evangelism. It isn't to say that Linux is perfect, but the anti-Linux crowd chooses the most retarded examples to shit on Linux. basically shit that hasn't been true since the early to mind-2010s or shit that makes them out to be retarded.
>>
>>107007716
>it isn't trying to be the exact same thing as Microsoft Office, so it make sense it has its own format that it uses.
tell that to the literally hundreds of normies who get stuck with this retarded software because their grandson or IT dept installed it but never bothered changing the settings. It's a legit problem

>the anti-Linux crowd chooses the most retarded examples to shit on Linux
you realize it's death by a thousand cuts, right? It's not just one retarded minor decision, it's the culmination of hundreds of retarded decisions. not unlike all of the nitpicks that people have with windows.

I'm a windows admin at heart, and every time I've used FOSS, I encounter the most retarded issues that a premium solution would never have. And those issues always come down to the stubbornness and elitism of the linux cultists. It's an actual fatigue that I've experienced.

Sounds like you got filtered quite honestly. Tell the normalfags at your job that there is a dropdown menu when you save a file that allows you to choose the file type. This shit has been in every Microsoft Word iteration since 98. It's not that foreign of a concept.

Again, it's not Linux's fault that you and your retarded brethren shouldn't be anywhere near a computer.

Correct, but you also failed to name examples
My favorite is that once a program is installed, its going to start littering somewhere random. Doesn't matter if its %appdata%(1/3), random document folders, the registry, or any of the many many places. And there is what.... 6 locations to setup starting applications, including the fucking services panel?

And its just as bad on Linux.

The tragedy of Linux is that it combines a good thing (free software as a movement) with a counterproductive holdover from the dark ages of computing ("muh unix philosophy")
Linux evangelists often get emotional and think any criticism of the latter is also an attack on the former.

sure buddy. that's why linux is losing desktop market share. because it's everyone else's fault.

8 billion people and counting on earth and the market share is decreasing. go fuck yourself.
>>
>>107008146
>that's why linux is losing desktop market share
No. Linux doesn't have a high desktop adoption rate because most computers come pre-installed with Microsoft. This has been the case since the 90s, when Bill Gates himself made deals with PC manufacturers to install Windows on their completed machines.

It also has nothing to do with the quality of the OS itself, seeing how Windows 11 is a fucking hot piece of dogshit by everyone's admission, yet people still use it.

You sound like the Linux zealots you hate: an overly attached retard to some corporation or group that doesn't even know you exist. You deserve to be filtered because you're a mouth-breathing retard of the highest caliber. You're the type of retard that should be working in an assemblyline and not at a computer.
>>
>>107008064
I think developers may have started putting stuff in %appdata% because of protections of Program Files and user folders (for example, UAC, or if ransomware protection is turned on in defender). I don't believe they need special permissions to run from there, hence the entire program is installed there.
This is just my guess, however. I don't know if it's the actual truth.
>>
>>107008188
>Linux doesn't have a high desktop adoption rate because most computers come pre-installed with Microsoft.
this cope is older than I am. It's not going to fly. Nice try though. It takes literally 10 minutes to download any version of linux and install it on a flash drive. There's probably a million tutorials on youtube. People have hated windows and purported that they were going to switch for literal decades.

And it's not even true. Manufacturers did offer linux but it was a fucking disaster. I know for a fact that dell still does offer linux but windows is selected as a default obviously.

>It also has nothing to do with the quality of the OS itself, seeing how Windows 11 is a fucking hot piece of dogshit by everyone's admission, yet people still use it.
because windows is still better. Is that a hard concept to understand? Windows sucks but it is still better. Reality is not binary.

A programm like Revo Uninstaller, ik it's technically not windows work, but having an application that uninstalles EVERYTHING, even regedit entries of programs is nice. Because using windows without revo uninstaller sucks so much, you get leftofter stuff everywhere... appdata, users, documents, registry, programmdata etc... Linux is def. cleaner, but still, sometimes I wish for something like Revo.
