Here is my oldest active drive
>>107005048and my 2nd oldest active drive
>>107005048>>107005057Planning to replace those soon?
>>107005017>>107005048>>107005057why are your hdds so cool? mine runs on 50 degrees all the time
>>107005483HDDs shouldn't be THAT far off ambient temp maybe 10-15 degrees higher at most.My NVMe drives can get pretty hot thoughI keep my room around 19-20C and my drives are usually ~30C.Pic related is my NVMe drive temp while idle. It can hit ~50-55C when doing longer read/write operations.
>>107005471I already have a 22TB sitting off on the side ready to swap in.
since 2020 roughly
>>107005577>22000 hours>2780 power on count>>107005562>20700 hours>78 power on countQuite the difference.
>>107005471Replacing disks is exactly what the government wants you to do
I keep my personal hdd collection and I only boot those drives when I need to, thinking about how can i make em last, I don't plan to back em up once its over its trapped within a paperclip with the shape of a hdd.
archive drives. They spin down on no activity for 5 minutes. No point in having drives spin all the time.
>>107005657Uhhh, I doubt it but okay
WD is winning!
Is 35k hours impressive for an ssd I bought in 2019?
>>107005017>turning your computer off
>>107006449No, I got my SSD in 2023 >>107005562 and it has over 20000 hours already.
do i pull the plug or continue the russian roulette
>>107006789Yolo
>>107006789...there's no russian roulette here, this drive will most likely continue to work for another decade or twothe lifetime % indicator is literally pointless and only designed to induce consumers into throwing away perfectly good working drives, your mx500 is nowhere near the write limit of the nand
>>107007324and to further prove my point: the mx500 has its health gauge set to decrease way too fast compared to most other drives, plus it's so poorly implemented that it eventually goes into a buffer overflow and therefore goes back to 100% health again
>>107006469impressive!
>>107005017
>>107007645Well you beat OP, still behind these >>107005048>>107005057>>107005657>>107005752
>>107007324>>107007373thx
>>107005657That's why I just defragmented by SSD in Windows 11.
no idea how this piece of shit is still working
