HDDs shouldn't be THAT far off ambient temp maybe 10-15 degrees higher at most.

My NVMe drives can get pretty hot though

I keep my room around 19-20C and my drives are usually ~30C.

Pic related is my NVMe drive temp while idle. It can hit ~50-55C when doing longer read/write operations.

archive drives. They spin down on no activity for 5 minutes. No point in having drives spin all the time.

...there's no russian roulette here, this drive will most likely continue to work for another decade or two
the lifetime % indicator is literally pointless and only designed to induce consumers into throwing away perfectly good working drives, your mx500 is nowhere near the write limit of the nand

>>107007324
and to further prove my point: the mx500 has its health gauge set to decrease way too fast compared to most other drives, plus it's so poorly implemented that it eventually goes into a buffer overflow and therefore goes back to 100% health again

I'll be retiring most of my smaller drives and replacing them with 20-26TB drives.
I'll still keep them as offline backups for awhile i guess.
