Why aren't typewriters still popular today? Sure, they're obsolete tech, but mechanical watches are too, yet the latter a're sold to wealthy snobs for their "craftsmanship" and intangible "soul."
>>107005257Agree about watches, but they're smol enough to be used as fashion accessories.
>>107005257Because a computer and a printer are completely better than a typewriter in every single way.
Typewriters, electro-mechanical adding machines and the like are pretty cool, but you can't carry one around on your wrist and use it throughout the day with ease like a mechanical watch. That's why.Obsolete tech like PDAs I still see some people using because it's convenient and not a burden to bring with you.
>>107005655And a digital/quartz watch are better than mechanical watches in every single way and cheaper to make too.
>>107005257they will come backit's the most private way to type a letter
>>107005797You may own both, you know. Are you bothered that people enjoy things you don't?Does what other people spend their own money on concern you?I do not understand this mindset.
>>107005821You could also own a typewriter on top of having a computer and printer
>>107005838Indeed. I actually have one somewhere. You can find them in perfect condition for a few dollars at thrift stores in my area.
>>107005257A mechanical watch pretty much does the job just as well as a digital one, or at least it gets close enough. A typewriter is a massive hassle with huge downsides for anyone attempting to type out a document.
>>107005861A 20$ Casio is more accurate than a 60k$ Patek Philippe.
>>107005797No they don't? what the HOT FUCK are you talking about
>>107005936what makes you think that accuracy is a metric?
>>107005257Typewriters are still good in the modern age. I got my last job because I wrote a thank you letter written with a typewriter and mailed it to the hiring manager after an interview. He was so moved, he selected me for the final round with the e-board, which was basically a shoe-in for the position. Jeets could never. Thank you, based Smith-Corona!
>>107005257no microdots
>>107005257Typewriters may be cool and retro, but I have limited space and while I can put my retro watch in a box with the others, I don't know if making space for a massive typewriter that I'd use maybe once a year is a good idea. I'd rather invest in a sewing machine.
>>107005936there are rumours about mechanical watches and high velocity airplanes
Atomic watches are literally quartz watches that get "corrected" with Caesium atoms. So, mechanical watches are nothing more than a grift to scam money from richfags just like luxury bags for women.
>>107005585>fashionread: portable gold digger magnetyou play your cards right and you'll get to use a very small 4 inch deep hexane-enhanced spa.
>>107007452A grift? Like diamonds? It's the same reason people buy name brand anything. The prestige of signaling to everyone else your "wealth". Expending money on trivial bullshit is the goal.
>>107007491Diamonds are apparently marriage destroyers somehow. Does any woman who sports a diamond have her first husband? Quite a lot of magical power, diamonds.
>>107007491Pretty much, a mechanical watch will never be as accurate as a cheap quartz watch. But marketing makes people believe that a mechanical watch is better because of "Swiss craftsmanship".
>>107007617well, mech watches can keep working after you've died of radiation poisoning!!!
I wear my Sea-Gull to support the great and glorious People's Republic of China But I'm not enough of a hipster to take an Olivetti Valentine to a local coffee shop
