Mint is on the long list of distros that would rather you download the unofficial Chrome flatpak than the official Chrome deb. This matters more for Mint than other distros on account of their demographics. This is concerning.

Chrome cannot be compiled unless it's by the developers. It's proprietary.

Also, Google could push updates to any package in your machine and break shit. It's asinine to stick with random deb files and random repositories when sandboxes packages work better.

I'm not sure, my laptop with mint randomly closes tabs when I click on the touchpad slightly towards the center.
It doesn't do it if I use a mouse, and I have all touchpad gestures off but it keeps doing it

OOMs, I have this problem with every distro based on Uboonga, saying so because I tested Mint and Zorin, the so called beginner-friendly distros that gave me nothing but headaches. Any other distro such as Debian, Endeavor, Fedora and Tumbleweed never had such problem

If you want to run a server use debian
If you want to customize you computer use arch
If you want to optimize your computer till you go insane use gentoo
If you hate yourself use ubuntu
If your gay use FreeBSD or OpenBSD
Mint is just a waste of space in the wide world of distros

To be considered a grandma linux it needs to be able to run on a mid grade laptop from 2008.
>>
>>107013032
Mint is a scrub-friendly distro, and it feels familiar enough for Windows users. I installed Mint for my mom so she could use her old shitty laptop and she never realized it wasn't windows.
Unless you're in web development or something like that, you wouldn't need anything past Mint. You can edit documents, you can watch youtube, and it comes pre-packed with Flatpak you won't miss your old Windows apps.

It does everything it needs to with minimal complexity, and that gets the "i use arch btw" crowd rowdy because you're not allowed to enjoy life.

It just werks ootb, you need to do some minor troubleshoot for some packages but you can do pretty much whatever you want. Also, no snaps. The only issue is that many packages are a little old when XX.2 or XX.3 finally release. And a final complain is why Mate instead of KDE? Cinnamon and XFCE make sense but Mate?
