>1800$>same GPU as 300$ headset
>>107006782and two monitors, and a CPU, and a motherboard, and some memory, and an OS, and cameras, and motion tracking.stop berigf retarded
>>107007411>and a CPUsame cpu, clocked slightly higher>and a motherboardnot that impressive of an improvment>and some memory, yes its 16GB instead of 8GB , on a side not yea LPDDR5X is amazingly fast but what the fuck is 16GB in 2025? that's barely enough for a smartwatch we seriously need to x3 the memory shipped with all these devices.>, and cameras, and motion tracking.yea it has 2 more cameras big deal.it comes down to high res microOLEDs vs shitty LCD and software. i find it VERY hard to beleive they will deliver anything worth a 1500$ difference. they went way too hard on the displays while not pushing the performance at allalso it was just launched with a GPU from 3 years ago while qualcomm released a new GPU just a month ago. the whole thing feels unserious
>>107006782Jesus, I dom't want to giggle it u dumdum what is it
>>107007800>16GB RAM too littleNeither the corpos or I care about your skill issues, newfag.GIT GUD
Stuff is planned and designed in advance, and by the time anything is hitting the market, components may no longer be latest and greatest, or an older chipset is used to keep costs to whatever the target they set for themselves is.That aside, $1800 is still preposterous.
>>107006782ok it's the Samsung XRit's an Apple Vision Pro clone. it's an android device.it's just for Windows, if you want pc vr. it sounds like.biggest pro is (maybe) foveated rendering.
>>107008252having little memory isnt a skill issue>>107008264>Stuff is planned and designed in advance, and by the time anything is hitting the market, components may no longer be latest and greatestphones with adreno 840 are being sold as we speak, the adreno 740 theyre including in this -not yet released- vr headset was being sold in phones 1y9m ago which means it was being given out to developers to integrate into their shit for months/year+ before that.for phones gpu largely doesnt matter nobody would notice if his phone had a gpu from 3 years ago but for a VR headset theyre extremely crucial. the reason quest 2 didnt make vr headsets as common as early smartphones is that the graphics were still jank af. and now theyre using the same old GPU from the quest 3/3s to drive 3 times the pixels that the 3s has its gonna have shit graphics>>107008881its like a quest 3 but with 3 times the pixels (and better displays) but you're not gonna be able to drive better graphics if its the same processing power as a phone from 2 years ago
only have to wait a bit until someone figures out how to sideload android xr onto my quest 3. i'm glad they went with a similar chip because that should make it a lot easier kek.
>>107009138why dont they all use the same android isnt that the whole point of the android project?the reason the phone market isnt gay like the vr market is any app runs on any phone
>>107009020>you're not gonna be able to drive better graphicsit connects with Windows (steam) games. you canbuse a 5090
>>107010294so its a pcvr headset? it's certainly not marketed as onei guess if you actually want a movie watching/pcvr machine those amazing displays and a wifi 7 chip will help you a lot
>>107010488yeah and wifi7. idk if foveated works with any pc stuff yet.
>>107009176bringing up any android device means you inherently need to modify the aosp source to fit your new device, then come the UX and UI changes to make it fit your use-case.facebook had to do all this while also integrating their own XR APIs, app store and ecosystem since android VR pretty much did not exist at the time.google made android XR specifically for this new hmd so of course facebook wouldn't have access to that codebase.pretty much all regular flat android apps work on the quest 3 already so it's not a matter of app compatibility. the new android xr stuff is sure to be at least a step better than facebook's horizon os though.
