I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I think this is the only time in Microsoft's history where they gave the consumers great products that felt consumer first. I truly do enjoy this generation of Windows more so than any other.

>>107007271Honestly Windows 2000/ NT 4.0 was peak windows. I remember when It came out thinking it was light years ahead of everything else.
>>107007271xbox being paid shouldve been a signthey only dominated the software market because they subsidized (bribed) hardware sellers
>>107007340I had switched to OSX by this time so I never experienced it really. >>107007381Yeah, it sucked when 360 went paid online so users could subsidize features, but they really were trying to build that cohesive ecosystem.
>>107007304damn, son, you've been here too long, take a 1 year break to see if you manage to heal from all the brainrot
>>107007271It sure feels that way *in retrospect*, but how true is this?Things seem in many ways worse, and Microshit going on an all-out, utterly unhinged LLM-training and AI integration campaign without enough resistance to force them to back off looks so crazy. Now how do we know that we aren't simply seeing older times better as a result of the stresses of the modern day? How do we know our view isn't biased bullshit?I get where you're coming from, but on the other hand, I'm not the type to "take shelter in the past", at least not anymore.
