I am addicted to buying these pieces of shit. They're like $15 + Free Shipping

CPU: Dual core AMD G-T48E 1.4GHz
RAM: 2GB (max 8GB)
Video: AMD Radeon HD 6250 Graphics

I put an SSD in them and upgrade the RAM. I have them all over the house doing this or that. I just bought more today. I think I might have a problem /g/. What are the functions could thin clients be repurposed for? Do you have thin clients as well /g/?

That's a shitty CPU
I bought a mini PC, a thinkcentre M73 Tiny. Comfy as fuck

I only use it to make small indie godot games

Bought a wyse 5070 to use as a server a couple months ago.
It's cool.
I think I like thinking about what I'm going to do with it more than actually doing anything with it. And it's nice to have something near the router that can take advantage of the speeds, that I can't do where I am in the house and with the laptop I have. I mean all I do is torrent with it though. What doy ou have multiple around the house doing?
>>
>>107007926
Honestly for the price I could buy like 10 of them and make a proxmox datacenter out of them and just throw them in the bin and replace if they die
>>
>>107008812
averages about 10 watts
>>
>>107008843
op only spends 15 bucks
what do you spend

>What doy ou have multiple around the house doing?
One is running an SDR reading my power meter and running home assistant.. Another is attached to my TV running various *arr programs and Kodi/xbmc. It's what I use to watch TV. Another is running Windows XP for old peripherals that never received drivers for anything beyond XP. I have four more just sitting in boxes right now.
>>
>>107007906
absolute garbage, I use it for SMB and scraping
>>
>>107008967
The price is right though.
>>
>>107007906
I got a Wyse CX0 as a Windows XP machine.
They're pretty cool. The newer AMD clients are just very slow modern pcs.
>>
>>107008967
>>
>>107008967
I thought there was something wrong with mine, but it turned out that CPU performance is identical to an original netbook Intel Atom N270, but you got 2 cores. Pentium 4 1.6GHz performance.
>>
Imagine how much money you losers would have if you bought tech stock instead of wasting your money on eWaste
>>
>>107009039
>tech stock
retard
you should be buying rheinmetall right now
>>
>>107009039
Like $150? Maybe $200. I would just use that money to buy more e-waste anon.
>>
>>107008940
About 20.
>>
i have one dual core lenovo its dogshit and i only use it for a pihole container not worth giving upgradres think they even have a 4gb ram limit i know mine is
>>
>>107009228
and im about to retire it aswell for a slightly less shit xeon server
>>
>>107007906
Yeah wyse thin clients are great. Useful little computers for dirt cheap. My router is just a Wyse 5070 with the wifi card swapped out for another ethernet port, and it runs circles around more expensive routers.
>>
>>107009267
I also have several 5070's I use to run a transcoding capable Plex server.
>>
>>107009557
That's surprising. I wouldn't expect a 5070 to have much in the way of transcoding capabilities.
>>
>>107009772
It uses a Pentium J5005 which has quicksync built in:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/128984/intel-pentium-silver-j5005-processor-4m-cache-up-to-2-80-ghz/specifications.html

I've seen it do 9x realtime on a 1080p transcode.
>>
>>107009816
Neat. Can it do 4k at all?
And you said you use several of them? Are you dispatching transcode jobs to multiple machines or something?
>>
>>107009837
I've never done 4k, I'm a poor fag and I exclusively view things in 1080p. I just have several because they're cheap and I have a hoarding problem.

I have 60 dell wyse 3040's with the 16GB of shitty storage and 2gb of memory with the atom core.
I got them from work because a company we were helping replaced them with an actual computer. The IT guys gave us programmers over 300 of them lol
I wanted to build some giant compute cluster but I don't have the time or drive to do that and now a single processor can destroy those ULV CPUs.
It's certainly better than having to deal with finding the right arm versions, but even that isn't really a problem any more.
Oh well, I don't need to buy a raspberry pi probably for the rest of my life lol
I have on one each UPS in my house, one running home assistant, two running pi hole.
I do not find them that useful and the wall warts can be annoying, the 5070 is maybe better, I had one I used for running local MySQL and as a build server for a while, that thing can take 32GB of memory and a hard drive so it's a little better for a server workload.
The 5070 has a j5005 quad core too and is AFAIK way faster
>>
You're not getting thin clients for 15 bucks.
>>
>>107010249
I just bought some for $11 a piece on eBay.
>>
>>107007906
Who buys this cuck shit?
>>
>>107011428
Me I buy it
