Can this be used as a video editor? If so, to what extent? Does it have audio and video layers? Color correction? Chroma Key? VFX? Or is it only good for simple trimming and organizing clips

Blender started to improve the VSE like 2 or 3 versions ago, in version 5 you will be able to use nodes directly for each clip. Anyway Davinci is more feature complete, but if you are already using Blender it's nice to have a good video editor there.

i don't get why those niggers insist on shoving a video editor in there when they can't even have a proper animation stack. They made the right call when they ditched BGE, they need to do the same with this and let specialized softwares do the job.

Yeah it's a decent video editor but there's better dedicated open source video editors like kdenlive
