Windows sucks now
Apple always sucked

But at least you don't have to suck an entire Pride Parade's worth of cocks to completion before daring to say "maybe we shouldn't have to suck-start our PC's every time we install software" before inevitably getting told about 30 other cocks you still haven't sucked yet! These cocks work differently!!!

The reason I ask for which distro he used is because they have different package managers and different ways of installing things. Perhaps he tried installing a flatpak version of steam but his flatpak permissions are so locked down it couldnt access anything else on his computer. Theres literally a dozen different reasons why something could have failed and unless we see the logs we cant know why.

Nah, I'm not getting baited with the most loaded fucking questions ever, where no matter what fucking answers I give, I've always somehow made the worst choices possible and "don't know shit about computers" like every other response in this fucking thread, or any other thread about this goddamn abomination of an OS. But I'll give a bit of info anyways. I installed steam, through THEIR download. Which I thought should work fine considering their prior use of linux. Or at least "better" than the completely useless dogshit software managers that are (for some goddamn reason) BUILT INTO nearly every fucking distro, yet shouldn't be used because

>lol just copy past these 20+ commands of techno-babble into the terminal and that will install it

Considering the fucking thing, AND the game I installed (through some divine miracle no doubt) actually fucking work (despite the error I mentioned, as well as even more errors booting the game a second time (or fucking course this is a recurring theme, software not working the same way between power cycles)) means that I wasn't completely retarded for thinking so.

But of course it's MY fault for everything not working or not jumping through possibly hours or troubleshooting shit that literally JUST FUCKING WORKS on windows, or at least if it doesn't you can easily find documentation that isn't just a bunch of self-proclaimed cyber-wizards having a technical dick-measuring contest of "how little" problems they've ever had.

Ok, yeah I can see why that might be scuffed. Mint uses flatpak (or snap?) on top of deb and they prob expect you to install it through some software center.
This is why I advocate for AppImages. AppImage is a more Mac-like system where you download a self contained executable that can be integrated with the rest of your system by simply dragging it into an Applications folder. I'm the minority though as most linux devs are autists that treat every package as a system component. Not even aware of a distro with native AppImage support.
>>

mint ships a regular system package for steam not a flat pack

Consider giving Linux a try in a VM before your next build. You can safely distro hop and see how things work. You can do that too, but it's simply not as convenient as installing from the terminal or software manager. You're stuck in a Windows mindset, which is honestly understandable. I seriously recommend just grabbing whatever stuff you want through the software center. It will just install and work without you having to do anything special.

people forgot they had to learn how to use a computer likely because they did so as a kid when learning was far easier, and they've just sort of tricked themselves into thinking they already know everything they need to know, and learning something they don't know is just not worth doing. Then they hit a brick wall and rage about their current knowledge pool being insufficient

this is actually a good sign you're becoming a boomer. Boomers don't learn, boomers don't try, boomers just stick with what they figured out 30 years ago and then brute force everything to work around it or just shit their pants and stop using modern options. I see it all the time and being in my 30s, all my peers are like this now. The easiest way to stop being a dumb faggot boomer brained NPC is to always be learning something new, always keep that train of struggle going so you don't atrophy get lazy and then become avoidant to new things

Great news! There is are operating systems made just for people like you! Both Microsoft and Macintosh offer premium operating systems that handle much of the technical aspects of maintaining a computer for you! I hope you give them a try, no one likes to struggle on the computer!

In all seriousness, I wish I could help, but Nobara just works on my gaming rig. Kubuntu mostly just works on my mid-for-its-time 2016 laptop. When something doesn't work, I often enjoy figuring out how to make it work. Sometimes I can't figure it out, which is frustrating, but this is similar to my Windows experience.
