You can never be 100% secure, this is impossible, but the best to stay secure is only run trusted software and stay updated. The amount of malware prevented by anti-virus software on an up to date computer used by someone with good security practices is basically null. An AV might help you if you are a retard that keeps clicking random shit and doesn't update the system, sometimes.
Normies simply shouldn't have full access to their computers and all computers should be iOS level of locked down by default if you truly want to improve security for them.
