So what's the best Xorg desktop environment for Arch Linux? I'm a chud btw.
>desktop environmentdid you mean: 'window manager'?i3wm, dwm, awesomewm are all pretty good. hyprland is the new kid in town and people seem to love it so why not give that a try also.
Fluxbox is still good, it's been around forever.
IceWM
>>107011848No, I want a full DE. Spending time configuring keybindings and looking for basic software is too much.
>>107011884MATE
>>107011884xfxe or mate but honestly you should try something a little less cuirated. just set aside time on the weekend to setup your own config and find software you like, it really doesn't take that long nigger
>>107011967I hate not being able to minimize a window to the taskbar, that's why I think all WMs suck and hyprland is a mess when using dual monitors
>>107012049You can do that with IceWM
>>107011840try lxqt
>>107011848>best Xorg desktop>hyprlandanon...
>>107011840haha OP I love froggo XD
>>107011848>hyprlandOP wants Xorg. As an aside, Wayland still plays very poorly with lots of "enterprise" memes like VSCode. While it's possible to get it working, you're going to suffer in the process.
>>107011840xfce of course
Xfce or CinnamonI used to like MATE but I don't think that's even in active development anymore, is it?Cinnamon might not have the best defaults given it's not where it belongs (Mint). But I preferred it.Xfce is snappy. There was an update where they pushed some changes to Thunar about 2 years ago that made me like it a lot. Like they actually bothered to update the thing. It's a shame that I can't go back to x11. A true shame.
>>107011840MATE. XFCE runs like garbage
>>107011840What is next going back to use candles? What about horses instead of cars? Wayland might not be perfect but even a bad solution can get us closer to have a good graphical server compositor architecture stack.
