going beyond 720p was a mistake
>>107012651Same but 1080p
Are you joking? We started beyond 720p.
>>107012651this but 4k
we never needed anything above 480i. 480p was already overkillthey're not pushing HD and over because they want you to "have a better experience" you know
>>10701265116:9 was a mistake. It sucks for office, browsing, and programming - only being useful for gaming and watching some videos.
>>107012788just use a second vertical monitor
>>107012651720@24mbps+AI Enhanced to 4k
>>107012664This. Screens are big nowadays, so only having upscaled 720p would suck.
>>107012788The hollywood jew fears the 3:2 aspect ratio
>>107013014>AI upscaledisgusting
>>107013066It's just a fancy name for madVR
>>107012788it's not even good for gaming. if you compare level design from halo 1 and 2 designed for 4:3 to any later games designed for 16:9 you will notice a dramatic loss in verticality. everything has to be flat and wide now because of the relative lack of vertical exposure. ui design never adapted so we still have horizontal bars on the top and bottom of desktops, applications, and games. it's fucking retarded to use the more scarce vertical real estate for a relatively useless window title or tab bar than application content but that's the standard and everyone is too chickenshit to challenge it. widescreen was only ever good for watching movies. i turn a 16:10 monitor 90 degrees and use it for browsing and programming and it's 100x better than widescreen for the task. the enshittification of tech began the moment wall street cunts got greedy and brought dopamine-addicted normalfaggots onto the scene to expand their markets.
>>107013066Some AI upscales are good and look better than the original
>>107012776>they're not pushing HD and over because they want you to "have a better experience" you knowThis. You people are so gullible.
Going beyond 4k is a mistake. 1080p on screens bigger than ~15" is a mistake.Schi/x/oids, /pol/acks, and /b/uffoons spilling out of their containment boards is a far bigger mistake.
>>107013136Shalom
>>107013160Not a middle easterner.Middle Easterners are a mistake, too.
>>107013242An evangelical then? C'mon anon, I can sense it.
>>10701265132k or bust niggaalso I do not consume media I want high res purely for my own purposes
>>107013136>i need 4x the pixels to fill a 25% increase in sizeretard alert
>>107012651Just cause you're drunk and fucked up THE WORLD HAS TO DOWNGRADE?SHUT THE FUCK UP!!
>>1070126514K makes sense for home cinema. It's first format which can actually bring 35mm level of detail to your living room. For PC I strongly believe in 20" 4:3 1600x1200 or 30" 16:10 2560x1600 supremacy.
>>107012651>>107012735yeah we had 1280x1024 before "720p widescreen" lmao.
>>107013580>le reddit directorwatch better movies
>>107013580>4k makes sense for home cinema>he posts degenerate shit funded by jews as his first examplethe meme writes itself
>>107013014>24 mbpswith modern video codecs, you can get passable quality 4k at that bitratewhich sure wouldn't be ideal, but still way better than an ai upscaled slop 720p, so what would be the point of this setup?>let's use an overkill bitrate for a shitty resolution so we can waste a fuckton of processing power attempting to make it slightly less shit instead of doing the sensible thing of just doing 4k from the get go??? why
>>107014245>t. mindbroken by reddit's mere existencekek
>>107013347w-what are your purposes anon?
>>107014279>whyBecause at 24mbps it's almost indistinguishable from the original source yet is significantly smaller. Other than that it is overkill.
>>107014420I don't even know how to respond to this, because it doesn't make any fucking sense, and you haven't addressed any of what i've saiddownscaling a 4k source to 720p is never going to look "indistinguishable from the original source" as long as you throw an overkill bitrate at it, and again, it doesn't give you any advantage compared to using a sensible resolution for that bitrate.and why do you keep going specifically for "24"? bitrate is only one of many variables, let's ignore the fact that we don't know what "original source" is and what encoder at which settings you're using, we don't even know if you're talking about cbr, vbr, 2 pass vbr, cqp, so even the bitrate metric itself is entirely meaningless.and besides, does 23 mbps look that much worse? is 25 really too much? like what logic made you come up with "24", it makes no sense, it just doesn't work like this.you just have no clue of what the fuck you're talking about
>>107014915>I don't even know how to respond to thisIt's your job to respond and you ever forget what's in your contract >because it doesn't make any fucking senseTry it on the dark scenes>and you haven't addressed any of what i've saidPlease d-d-dont fire me, saar>downscaling a 4k source to 720p is never going to look "indistinguishable from the original source" as long as you throw an overkill bitrate at it, and again, it doesn't give you any advantage compared to using a sensible resolution for that bitrate and why do you keep going specifically for "24"? bitrate is only one of many variablesWould you still lose your marbles if I had said 12-24 variable? >>107012651Especially in porn.
>>107012651this but 16k
>>107016198this
>>107015095You didn't address his main claim, which is that 720p being equivalent to 4k if you set the bitrate high enough is straight up retarded.
>>107016346>You didn't address his main claim, which is that 720p being equivalent to 4k Never made such a claim and the high bitrate has nothing to do with it other than it being my personal bdrip preference. Eventually, the 4k content would have to be upscaled to 8k since there won't be enough bandwidth available to stream in 8k so upscaling is the future.
Higher resolution means my screen looks sharper. I don't like pixelated text.
>>107012651Wrong because 1440p @ 27" is peak.
>>107012651>>107012664768p

anything below 4k is pixelshit and you should be using CRT monitor at that point
