All books recommended in these threads bith here, hacker news, reddit are just mediocre books. They make the prigrammer feel like a smart person and are often badly written.They're also recommended in the wring way to the wrong people.So my recommendation for books is to pirate some and see what you can tell it's good.

I like the "build X from scratch" genre. Picrel is a new one published this year, haven't read yet but looks good.
