This is fucking stupid, there’s going to be a glut of plumbers and electricians in the future cause of this shit. Turns out if you address a demand the value of the service goes down commensurately. All you’ll get out of it is fucked joints. Still a better deal than university, you learn useful skills and get paid to do so (assuming you get an apprenticeship), but it’s not some magic bullet, you’ll not earn generational wealth without putting the work in

I thought I was completely alone with that assumption.
You're the first anon I've seen expressing this as well.

software engineers should have actually turned their profession into engineering and done the same but they're stupid.

There can literally be no such thing. Right now America is full of broken and shitty toilets and non functioning bathrooms. Millions of people want shit wired but literally nobody is allowed or qualified OR EVEN ABLE to do it.
Face it, America WANTS people who can do these jobs but the current system doesn't generate them because it's broken.

WRONG! Open source is catching up
If Claude Opus is as good as it gets, I don't care, as long as I get an open source GLM model that's just as good in a few years, I never need something better.

Googling that only yields "meshy.ai" which appears to be a landing page for a service/product using some AI model as a backend

Your AI sense is underdeveloped. You are reading into the the phrase "appears to be" which is AI coded, but the sentence structure and rhythm is not AI, as well as quirks like the use of "etc" ad punctuation.

3D modeling AI is only impressive to newfags who have zero clue about 3D modeling.

AI produces textured models with about 20k polygons. This is completely unusable for any project.
Actual projects need models in the tens of millions of polygons, so that their details can be baked to texture maps (normal map, edge-man, AO map etc).
But with these AI models they're low poly (and with terrible topology btw) and basically all of their detail comes from their texture (which is pretty shitty too).

Completely unusable. Call me when AI can make a 3D sculpt with 10 million triangles from nothing and automatically retopologize it to low poly and bake the textures from the high poly to the low poly model. That'll be actually impressive.

The value of the dollar is not based on the gold standard anymore you fat tard. If you meant to use it as an indicator of inflation, the average price of an egg might be a better one, as it is much more relevant to the median person.
>>
>>107021624
>This is completely unusable for any project
For game development, it's completely usable, and in fact could go with even fewer polygons.
Hyper-detailed graphics constitute just 1 art style (AAA slop)
>>
>>107016093
>muh tech takes longer to evolve than financial speculations
Yes, it's the same as dot com bubble, but just as internet was eventually a revolutionary technology that changed the world so will be AI
If you actually read up on any scientific studies you would see there are new findings every few weeks, from new types of model architectures, to technology that integrates them and makes it more powerful

I'm talking about AAA game development
>>
>>107021759
Yes and AAA game devs need sculpts in the 10s of millions of triangles so they can bake maps for proper PBR.
You're clueless.
>>
>>107021765
>low reading comprehension
I'm saying AAA game development is a failing industry, and that there is no need to create anything other than indie games, which only require low-poly models
Jesus Christ you need things spelled out for you
This conversation is now over. Farewell nigga.
>>
>>107021780
>telling me I can't read
I literally said here >>107021624 why they can't be used as low-poly.
First off, 20k polygons is way too much for low poly. The low poly model should be 3k at most, or 5k for a protagonist character. AI can't deal with those low polycounts and preserve detail. Only a human good at retopology can.

Secondly, AI creates HORRIBLE topology for deformation and animation.

Thirdly, the textures are garbage and would need to be hand-drawn from scratch.

And finally, hand-drawing every character from scratch is a retarded workflow. You sculpt, bake the details, and use gradient maps to give colors to each UVs.

You're clueless.

>he thinks high poly sculpts are only used for detailed realistic graphics
goddamn you're ignorant, the high poly sculpt NEVER makes it to the final game in ANY circumstance (triple A or indie), it's only used to bake details to texture maps.
>>
>retards impressed by AI have zero knowledge in the field
lmao shocker
>>
>>107021384
gatekeeping makes things higher quality. the reason software is so unbelievably shit right now is because half of the people in this industry could not fucking care less about the craft and just want to collect their 6 figures.

>>
>>107021370
The current system doesn't generate them because just like the AMA controls the supply of doctors, individual trades control the supply of their own labor to ensure high prices for consumers. Thankfully AI is the great equalizer and within 10 years no jobs will need to be done by humans because AI will do them more efficiently.
