The moment these shitglasses gets the ability to have prescriptions made for them and to allow the ability to tint the screen so people can't see what you are doing, then they will sell like crazy.

Why didn't they include that in the marketing?

>>107017875
Bad design. They're too chunky and the cameras aren't fashioned up AT ALL. Apple will nail this segment.

The vision pro looks like aids.
>>
>>107017875
No they won't.
We as humans evolved to use tools with our hands.
Mind/Face computers don't work because there's nothing analogous to them in a state of nature. At best this sort of thing is a fun novelty. It will never be the primary way we interact with computers.

I still don't see the advantage of those compared to just using your phone.

>>107018330
Taking pictures with glasses is vastly superior. Obviously not for women, but if your goal is to photograph something/someone besides yourself.
>>
>>107018330
Have you seen the vision pro?
Imagine that but in glasses(in the near future)

>>107018339

I know what is it, but what would you use it for that you can't just use your phone?

It is? I assume Using your hands to be better than using your neck.
>>
>>107018355
>I assume Using your hands to be better than using your neck.
Well, that's wrong. And it also doesn't make sense, your neck literally supports two organic cameras. A tripod also simulates a neck. With glasses, you are the tripod, and what you see with your eyes is exactly how the photo gets framed.
>>
>>107018355
Do you use your phone for everything?

Which also rotate for the fine details.
As far as I know, aiming with a mouse in a FPS is better than aiming with your neck in VR.

>>107018397
No, I rarely use my phone. But I'm not an average dude.
I saw a video a few days ago of someone overlaying reality with vr to trace a drawing on the front glass of a shop. That's an example of what you could do with those glasses that you can't do with your phone. But it's VERY niche.
Another use could be for surgeons, maybe, since they have their hands busy. But there are probably good reasons against it (maybe it'd just be a distraction).

>>
>>107018330
Sometimes people put their phones in their pockets and that's not useful for an adtech company that wants to know exactly what you're paying attention to at all times.
>>
>>107018330
>>107019045

>>
>>107019005
I accept your concession, sorry for being rude. As was just illustrated, hands aren't strictly needed for communication and the accomplishment of goals. >>107018169 isn't exactly right. If human civilization continues beyond ASI we'll be using telepathy with each other and our robot partners via BCIs if not Faceberg style glasses with (arm/hand controlled! wrist bands). The quest for ever more useful work for ever fewer calories continues. We'll be able to insult each other hands-free soon.
>>
>>107018286
Do you type with your wrists?
>>
>>107019057
>arm/hand controlled! wrist bands
Yes people love hand gestures as a user interface for a computer. Much easier than holding something tangible. It's why the Xbox Kinnect was a massive success and the Nintendo Wii was a complete flop.
>>
>>107019106
The wrist bands don't work by gestures

???
>>
>>107019106
>>107019118
And to begin with, I'm not arguing for the guaranteed success of the Faceberg product, just saying that hands aren't strictly needed for tool use. Why doesn't a superior massage his subordinate's body to order him around? etc.
Today's screens are capacitive 2D surfaces and you're forced to fish a brick out of your pocket, authenticate through tapping, hold it and crane your neck or engage your deltoid/bicep/supinator/FCU&ECU to gaze at it while straining your forearm. Even if you argue from the "hand" (forearm muscle impulse sans touch) view there shouldn't be anything wrong with the wrist band gimmick as long as the sensors are low latency and high resolution enough. Personal machine learning in wrist bands (like a watch or WHOOP device on either wrist) combined with small hand wrist/finger movements probably unlocks dozens if not hundreds of actions without the use of cameras or gloves.

>>107019150
>???
You got me, bending my thumb and wrist a few degrees does count as gesture, but you're using language to conflate camera/accelerometer (wagglan') input with sEMG. They're different things in practice. I'll theoretically be able to do my Anki reps in -30 degrees outside with mittens on or swap between OpenCPN nautical charts and NMEA 2000 real time data streams by using one hand/finger as a modifier and the other(s) for commands while sailing using this kind of tech. And input methods will continue integrating harder with the nervous system and higher up toward the brain, away from the hands.

Again, as was just illustrated, hands themselves aren't strictly needed for communication and the accomplishment of goals. >>107018169 isn't exactly right. People will be unable to do precise shit with their hands and will trip over their own feet alll the time.
>>
>>107017875
People already can't see the screen. They're not going to sell (even at a loss for Meta) because they're 4 times the weight of normal glasses and their use-case isn't compelling enough for it to become a mass-market product. AR/VR will always be niche.
