good morning sirs.
I'm eyeing a used T14 G4 or T14 G2 (both with i5s) in my area (as there are no T14 G3s). What difference does the 16:10 screen make? If I got the T14 G2, could I mod a 16:10 display into it? Performance wont be an issue with either one for me, so the price, display and warranty (which the G4 still has, but the G2 doesnt) are the key fectorsG4 (open-box, almost new) is about 40% more expensive than the G2 (moderately used) + a new battery.
>>107022826What model is that? Also are those books The C Programming Language and Effective C?
>>107023320forgot to mention but the G4 is still under LenOwO's factory warranty (till may of next year), while the G2 only has a 3 month reseller (refurbisher) warranty.

>>107034241>>107034547I have the same one and there's two main warts. The trackpoint is ever so slightly laggy, not noticeable if you just push it around aimlessly but enough to be less accurate at hitting buttons. And the CPU frequency scaling isn't as responsive as on Windows and by default doesn't go below 1.4 GHz. There's workarounds for these that make it good enough for my use case.

I just noticed my T480 is now drawing from the internal battery before the external. After having researched the problem it seems that this is a firmware issue that causes the laptop to automatically draw first from the battery it detects is healthier. The last time I looked, the internal was at about 70% capacity and the external was at about 76%. This was several months ago. Now for some reason they have flipped and the internal is reading 80% and the external at 70%. Is there any way to force it to draw from the external first?

>>107056076if you're fine with 8GB ram and just want to play around then go and grab it, shove M.2 2242 sata ssd into the WWAN slot. but remember it only has 2 USB A and no USB C, which is why I'd rather get an X260 or X270 for old X series
>>107051018>Undervolting doesn't actually do anything.Step up to a quad-core T480 and you'll easily gain 15% all-core performance at 15W. You'll also get at least 1 extra hour of battery life, more if it's a 72Wh battery.Undervolting a P52 with its 8th Gen Coffee Lake processor literally gives you up to 40% better all-core performance at 10W, thanks to how absolutely trash Coffee Lake is, since it can be undervolted to -140mV on Core+Cache and to -170mV on iGPU+iGPU Unslice.
>>107053713>lol, lmao evennot who you were talking to but why do you guys think this comes off as like cool and disaffected, instead of like you're 35
>>107056076Sure. But you're going to want to put a lighter OS on it like Mint because Windows 8 makes it purr.

I guess if you have a very undervoltable chip then you can see a difference.
>>107056418it's a simple answer to an absurd statement
>>107056796yeah in the same way that "hecking cute fluffer" is a simple way to say you like someone's dog
>>107055780Logitech K120 can't be beaten so no
>>107055780>where do these kbs come from?Chyna. >are they good or nah? Hell no. Feels like absolute shit to type on, they feel nothing like ThinkPad keyboards. They're scissor switches, and I don't know if it takes some time to break them in, but they feel pretty stiff and sound like glass when typing on them. Save yourself a month's paycheck. >>107051018>the fuck is that lump on the touchpadIt's not a toomah! It's not a lump, just a worn out trackpad sticker, I'm guessing.
