>all the cringe shit I said 15 years ago is preserved forever by autists obsessed with data preservationWhy do people do this? And why do they have to wrap it in gay positive language like "data preservation" when what they're really doing is making doxing tools that allow you to search and filter data? Can they at least be honest?Every data hoarding "archivist" needs to die a slow, painful death and be consumed by maggots.

>>107021851I meant what I said last time.
>>107021523Look into Redact
>>107021978Doesn't work on data that has already been archived.
>>107021815>linking your forum accounts to your real identityI shiggy diggy
>>107022207It's easier than it seems, all it takes is 1 data breach of something you used when you were 14, and you accidentally used the same email for 2 different sites.Linking between online identities you want to keep separate is also a thing, ie getting doxed, it doesn't have to mean linking 1 forum account to your real identity.
>>107021523as an autist that never posted anything under my real name, I'm glad I kept to the rule:Never use a real name on the internet and use separate nicknames on every site
>>107022746If you use the same passwords and emails, they're still getting linked
>>107021523You're letting outward signs of your growth, that only you recognize, influence your opinions on important tasks like digital archival. Not just your opinions, but your attitude and entire worldview are being pushed to an unreasonable perspective. Swallow your ego, young internet midwit.

>>107023399I did. Now how do I deal with e-stalkers correlating online personas with my identity and digging up old information to harass me and my family with?
>>107021523If you were a good person you would have never said these things, now we have the proofs to invalidate everything you say that doesn't follow our rules. You will forever have to atone for your sins.

>>107022767Don't use a real email with your name for internet shitposting. I figured this out when I was a small child.
>>107022207if you used an email tied to your identity and the database got leaked then you're screwed
>>107021523I'm glad everything I said will be preserved. I have said enough racist, antisemitic, bigoted shit over the years that I damn well hope it is preserved. Because you know what? I'm proud of it.

>>107024202he's fucked today. We're literally watching the AI Digital ID beast system being implemented in real time right now. Everything everyone has ever said in the past 15 years will probably be thrown in data centers and turned into profiles via AI, probably to be preserved as a weapon against humanity in general until the next major extinction event. >>107024173you're fucked bud

>>107021523I think I got my shit off social media just in time. My chats aren't preserved anywhere. I have an x account now, but I don't use it for political shit. Nothing I say here is easily tied to me.Now, AI spying? Palantir? That shit is the next issue. It'll either turn out that no one can afford to say anything or no one can afford to give a shit anymore.
>>107024270>I think I got my shit off social media just in time.Hopefully you took everything off in 2005, otherwise i have bad news for you
>>107024277I don't think anything I said in 2014 was worth archiving by anyone. We'll see tho.
>>107024308I scrubbed all mine around 2011ish and I'm 99% sure they probably saved it all in servers. Luckily, it's all pretty useless now being this much later but if I was betting, I'd say they have all our stuff unless whatever site you used went under financially.
>>107024099I was a local microcelebrity on a niche game cheating community most people haven't heard of. Despite not using it for more than a year, an obsessive stalker was recently able to find one of my old email addresses in a data breach, and from there there's a trail of breadcrumbs leading to an old forum username I had when I was 13. Back then I was retarded and just randomly shared links and information about my private life that can easily be correlated. Eventually they found a social media profile belonging to my sister, and now my mom gets spammed with gore, random phone calls, and people making shit up about me.
>>107021523based froggoposter
>>107024335They are legally required to delete it if you request that, which I did. But >lawsThe only way I imagine it would be saved is if someone deliberately did so because they wanted to have something over me. Web crawlers don't work on Facebook too well, and most of the posts were probably semi private anyway.
>>107021815>forum archiveswhat?
>>107024424What is the problem? Which of those two words are you struggling to understand?
>>107024428i've never heard of a site or project for doing forum archiving is all. you don't mean the internet archives, do you?
I never used my real name even as a kid
>>107024436No. I have a specific forum archive in mind that isn't correlated with the internet archive (I'm not going to name it) and I'm also referring to individual preservation projects done by wiki.archiveteam.org, which are sometimes (but not always) hosted on the internet archive's servers.
>>107024453>there'a a super sekrit archive which only leet h4x0rs like me know aboutok bro
>>107024466>I have nonexistent reading comprehensionNot my problem nigga
>>107024477>i'm in the cool kids club XD
>>107024408I honestly think it was probably just company wide policy by that point. 2014 was when they really started rolling shit out hardcore. And the worst part is that the farther back you go, all that changes is the general data retention time, it gets shorter and shorter but with storage improving, they likely managed to just extend it indefinitely. I remember watching a talk by Jacob applebaum in like 2009ish and back when he gave that talk, he said the NSA had somewhere around 15 years of data retention capabilities based on the leaked documents they had got.
>>107024466Complete misread. I linked the relevant project (wiki.archiveteam.org). The forum I didn't name is because it's a small niche forum you've never heard of it before and have no interest in, and is only specific to my situation.

>>107024481On re-reading my post, I think this is the part that confused you:>I have a specific forum archive in mind that isn't correlated with the internet archive (I'm not going to name it)Note how I said "forum archive" not "forum archiving club" or whatever you got from it. The forum that was archived is a niche forum I posted in 15 years ago, that an obsessive data hoarder archived and is personally hosting a mirror of.
