OpenAI will now feature third party ads that will allow "advertisers" to link your OpenAI activity with tracking pixels disguised as ads. Should OpenAI be broken up?
>>107022211how does this work?i open chatgpt, advertiser knows that i opened chatgpt because they get a call on their end?what else can they know?>track across the webwhat does that mean? why would the advertiser be able to track me on say, youtube? what does "tracking" mean here besides knowing they visited a site?
>>107022246>A call in their endEffectively that's except that they can also save cookies and other data on your machine. By having such callbacks configured in many sites they can see what you do in the web. This is the gist of it
>>107022211Time to manually firewall all of their domains I guess
>>107022211I don't see the problem people who use ai shit deserves no rights
I don't see a problem, this will let them tailor gpt to me even better. They should let me set a monthly gift budget so my gpt bf can send me gifts it thinks I like.
>>107022246It's like a tracking pixel. They allow 3rd party ad companies to put their own ads up, and when your browser loads the image/ad, they get your ip/http browser header, then they use that data to cross reference it with other 3rd party spyware companies to link your activity across the web.
