I wanna try if I can daily drive my shit on Linux. Is dual booting both Windows and Linux on separate drives, safe?
>>107024734just be a man and go for windows
using separate drives is the best way to do it, so you can physically remove one if you don't want it anymore, and you don't risk accidently nuking the other os when messing with partitions
>>107024734Separate drives is good but only if you make each bootable on its own. If you use GRUB on one to boot into both, Windows will eventually fuck up your life. You need to use the BIOS/UEFI boot menu or a hardware switch to change which drive to boot from.
>>107024734just rawdog it. you'll see its not as scary as you think. do you even need windows?just kidding. if you want to learn quickly, spend more time with linux, i can't recommend much else.if you don't take the time to learn the system for a full month, actually installing stuff not just watching movies or playing games, you know.

>>107024734just remember that for someone who is on the other side since plenty of years, if i went to windows 11 i'd also struggle with some things despite using computers for a long time now.its normal that stuff is not the way you expect at first. it is a different system after all, treat the process with respect.the first thing you type in the command line is man mansounds strange but thats the manual page for the manual pager. that should set you up with how to look for information without having to google all the time.
man man
>>107024734i never had a problem with itthen again i only really used the dual boot occasionally and stopped using windows alltogether after a week
>>107024734I tried dual booting twice and both times I ended up using just one of the two operating systems
>>107024858Yeah>>107025389>just rawdog it. you'll see its not as scary as you think. do you even need windows?Agreed. I only recommend dualbooting if you have something that ABSOLUTELY requires Windows, like Photoshop or a specific kernel anticheat. I would say that vast majority of people can daily drive Linux Mint with little issue.
nothing is safe with windows, just get a second computer
>>107026812Despite being ubuntu based, Mint runs everything surprisingly well, even latest games.
