STOP using outdated local password managers and switch to cloud-based one IMMEDIATELY.
>>
As soon as you start syncing your private key to the cloud first.
>>
I sync my .kbdx database between my phone and laptop with my private server so it's akshually cloud and based lmao
>>
>>107030730
yes. that's you give them free database.
>>
>>107030730
You can take my local encrypted passwords from my cold dead hands.

this is the best password manager, hands down.

username = base36(tuplehash(31, masterpassword, domain))
password = z85(tuplehash(128, masterpassword, domain, username))
keypair = ed25519(tuplehash(256, masterpassword, "ed25519", identity))
tuplehash(output_bits, t_1, ..., t_n) = shake128(t_1 || length(t_1) || ... || t_n || length(t_n) || n || output_bits)
>>
It's only local if you didn't look at the options to run it off a server. Personally I run mine off a webdav location and it's regularly backed up to an off-site location.
>>
>>107030730
>cloud-based
big difference between your own self-hosted server and "the cloud"

I use BitWarden because syncing keepass between my phone and laptop was too cumbersome. I don’t want to use any extra software to sync.
>>
>>107030730
No.
>>
>>107032101
Tell that to the South Korean government.
>>
>>107032113
if you want to keep bitwarden running locally, you need sync server anyway.

It's more convenient for me to have all of it locally
>>
>>107031295
Lets call it "the cloud" so it will evoke a heavenly safe feeling.
>>
>>107030730
they should make it so the files can only be opened with biometrics or a hardware key
then I could save my db on icloud
>>
>>107032316
I'd rather there be zero need to thrust anyone else period.

It actually is a pain in the ass. However you can host it on a third location and sync them automagically.

am I doing things wrong if I use 2fa with ente auth and standard notes to store all my passwords?

Vaultwarden is pretty good it syncs between clients so you can still use it offline, although you'd have to self-host it alongside nginx proxy manager though but it's probably the best solution you can have that just works
