I feel like focusing on privacy makes your life boring and other people think you are a weird schizo.

>From Windows to Linux
I feel like Microshit records my mic, screen and keystrokes and I don't like running pirated games on it and prefer Linux for that trustedsource.exe into virus lol. I like Linux, but I feel like I'm missing out on "fun" Kernel Anti Cheat Games or Windows only software. "Wanna play some BF6?"

>Social Media, outcast.
Sure, give me your Signal "Uh, what is signal?" Just use whatsapp or text me, freak. Not having instagram or tiktok sucks sometimes. Here bro "funnytiktok_link" I know it's CCP Spyware, but why should I care? Missing out again. And Discord is "too good" to give up...

>Online AI
I hate that I care about my personal name and address, when using AI. My life would be so much simpler, if I just paste fucking documents into the LLM, without thinking about my personal data...

>ISP & VPN
Wow.. why should I use a fucking VPN, most sites have https anyway, cool my ISP can see that I visit phub or hentai, it's only useful for torrenting.

>Trying to avoid google
While using fucking YouTube 24/7 and other niggas require you to use google services.

>GrapheneOS?
Never tried it, but I think that would make my life even worse.

I feel like privacy doesn't really matter, I need to enjoy my fucking life and stop falling for every /g/ meme. But maby some people with more life experience can guide me a bit...

I think it's about balance, he revealed so much and people are still ignorant. It's convenience over privacy.

I actually agree with you on a few of these points, I mostly use Linux and stuff *because* it makes computers more fun for me, I can actually fuck around with my system a lot more, I don't give a shit if the NSA wants to snoop on my files. I use the same principal for social media, in that I basically never use it because being an algorithm slave is really retarded but if I'm in a group chat or my friend sends me something funny that's me using the app as a tool, not as my entire life. I don't use tiktok tho and neither do any of my friends, if you get a video from there just open it in the browser duhhh. Same for AIs, I don't use OpenAI or Claude which I know are 'the best', and instead use services like Huggingface which have loads of open source models you can chat to. Also something like Searx is really cool cause you can get results from Google, Brave, Yandex etc and you're doing it through a proxy if you care about security. I got memed into Graphene but am probably going to switch to either Lineage or stock android any day now, it feels so cucked to use, literally meme tier stripping basic functionality in the name of 'security', at least my bank app works on it
>>

I think it's an american thing. Bongs and germans are already eating shit because of their reckless disregard for privacy, which's only an option when you've got a first amendment, which they don't.
>>
>>107038665
I don't want to be monitored, that's all. And I shouldn't be. It's just the principle of the thing.

i used to decline cookies or search for the setting to minimize them, now i just accept my fate

Thanks.
>instead use services like Huggingface
I use local AI, I use ollama and also comfyui, it's fun to play around on Linux.
>Searx
Sounds good, I'll look into it.
>I got memed into Graphene
Lol, I mean at least banking works, I always thought it doesnt. But this is also weird: I trash talk microsoft, while using a stock chinesium android phone...

You aren't born with any of these.
Simply refusing anything is the path of least resistance.

I've always stayed away from these gay normie social medias and apps and never had a problem with it because I don't associate myself with lame ass normies (who are in fact the most boring people on the planet).
Also who the fuck even plays modern AAA slop?

vast majority of gaymers today play mostly mobileslop, gatcha shit, mobas, fotm indie crap, etc. AAA games that require the latest hardware don't even come close
>>
>>107039565
Been buying games on GOG the last year, averaging $1.30 a game feeling good. Got BF6 because all my friends only play that now, fucking $70 down the toilet I could have bought easily 20-40 better games with. Just to find out its only 9 maps, not many guns, not even parity with BF4 which I already owned. Now they've added a paid battlepass as well. I used to think meeting a dollar per hour of play was good but for $70 game even that is retarded. Back to playing roms and enjoying GOG games for me. Maybe I should switch to linux fully so I wont be tempted by “AAA” slop again.

Have some taste, nigga. Even your "friends" are playing it, they won't in 1 month tops. Don't follow cattle.
>Social media tiktok
Again, the fomo of (((social media))) only exist in your head. Have some self criteria. Of course, you don't have to lose communication with your loved ones, but no one's gonna hate you if you don't watch the "lol tiktoks".
>AI and other jeware
Just don't use it. Realistically that won't save you from your info other people leak into it tho. There's no way around this.
>All the other shit you typed
Like, come on man, nothing is black and white. You can use spyware while not giving it your personal info. Just be smart of what you out online and you're golden. Compartmentalize as much as possible, this is a good golden rule. Never make accounts if avoidable, never use your real info online.
At the end the day, you can't escape daddy government. The glowies will catch you if they want. Just don't do stupid shit at plain daylight, if you catch my drift.
>>
>>107039812
Social media is a cesspool. Dont let some fucking algorithm designed for profits decide what you view. The old internet of small forums and niche communities is still here, just focus on that and finding like minded anons to chat with. If your friends are mad you dont keep up with latest hype and nonsense are those really friends you want?

Sadly yes. While many channels have patreon options and im happy to give them $1/mo, I’ve got a few channels that still dont or have patreon but wont fucking upload there. The ones I really love and rewatch I have auto downloading via yt-dlp to my NAS, so if I was smart Id just only watch what I have locally and avoid the website altogether, but I still default to opening it to watch stuff at work. Its a solid grip they have, but slowly ive been transitioning away to local media like NOVA or docuseries stuff Ive had forever and not watched.
>>
>>107039898
I do. I'm subbed to almost 100 channels. But I've been using an RSS feed to avoid login in to YouTube (also Newpipe on mobile / Smartube on FireTV).
There's always workarounds for everything without having to surrender what little privacy we can really have.
>>
>>107039812
Surprised bf is even still a thing (same for COD) but I guess the studios gets more money from glowies than gaymers at this point

I use newpipe and smartube already. I had no internet for a week and I really noticed how youtube addicted I really am, at least I had other media on my nas.
What channels / type of videos do you watch anons?
>>
If you're so private, how do people know enough about you to think you're a schizo? Maybe you're just not as private as you like to think.
>>
Wrong time. I remember this was actually the case in the late 2000s and early 2010s when I didn't adopt social media and friends, family and girlfriends were all confused.

Now in 2025 they all respect and understand it inherently. If anything you seem like a wise person now. I remember back then (I was in college in 2011) the computer science teacher asking us to raise our hands for people that didn't use social media and I was the only one raising it and some of the people said "why are you raising it with pride, loser". The teacher wanted to make a point about network effect and how it's impossible to not have social media, I kind of ruined his point.
>>
>>107038665
You are just a pathetic weakling. That's the actual problem. You have zero authority in your social circle. Nobody has an ounce of respect for you. If you can't even make your family and friends use an easy-to-use messenger, you are worthless.
>>
>>107040127
>What channels / type of videos do you watch anons?
gaming, tech, movie reviewers, a tiny bit politics, that sort of stuff.
And yeah, I admit that I'm a little addicted too. I've been thinking of purging some channels and reducing the amount of slop I watch. Eventually cutting down the amount of subs and videos I watch daily.
>>
>>107038665
You gotta find a happy medium OP. I keep my instagram and all that shit, but only post periodically. I use Linux on my home computer, but dual boot with a tiny windows drive if I ever need it.
I built a kickass PC to locally host AI when needed.
I work at the local ISP and know we don't give a damn as long as someone doesn't get 60+ DMCA tickets in a single day.
I still use gmail and youtube, but otherwise turn off all the google shit on my phone (most that I can), and avoid adding more google shit to my life.

Privacy matters, but you are right to point out how corporate scum have infultrated the minds of everybody, being a constant necessity in their lives. It's sickening, but what can you do aside balance it all?
>>
>>107038665
Want to know a funny anecdote?
A good bunch of my friends and I were together just messing around and chatting, when we started talking about AI and its privacy implications. We started to search ourselves on it and see how much it knows about each one of us. Surprisingly, the ones who didn't ever used AI for anything where the best pinpointed by it while others whom jobs literally require them to be public and social, where the least recognized by it.
Even the most schizo of our friends who actively tries to be private was found by the AI down to his fucking phone number.
And that is because you leak personal info through your contacts whether you like it or not. So don't sweat it too much. I think the more you try to hide the more these algorithms catch you.
>>
I used to be a privacy schizo too, then in a bout of repressed exhibitionism went through the glowie hiring process and realized they didn't care / didn't know shit. I use ublock. For the rest, they can hear me say "nigger", watch me type "nigger" and look at porn a few times a year idgaf.
>>
>>107040278
This. The more you try to be private, the more you stick out to an online AI, because your fingerprint is unique compared to the masses.
>>
>>107038665
>Privacy, is it even worth it?
No, I want the CIA to know all about my weird fetishes
>>

It would be russians or chinks who try to honey trap you with those.

>Zoomer babby cognitive breakdown
I really wonder what it would be like being a youngin these days believing my identity is solely based on jewish tricks that were invented post 2008. I can't do that because I remember my childhood to college days where none of this existed. If jews decided to cut off the internet or electricity for days/weeks would your sanity remain?

I have goyim gaming Win 11 PC that is on its own vlan, VPN isolated from the network. I also have a goyim android phone for normie apps that is isolated. The rest are degoogled/linux devices. Have different devices, browsers, PCs for different purposes. It's only going to get worse. The point is to limit or obfuscate the data about you they collect so easily from normies.
>>
>>107038665
Anons are entitled to call other anons "retarded," "nigger," and "faggot," from the comfort of their homes, without butthurt skids trying to dox and ruin people's lives over words on a computer screen.
>>
Monero won.
>>
okay but what do i gain by losing privacy? i was never offered anything valuable.
>>
>>107038665
make a thread model. focusing on privacy because you think privacy is important is not a specific enough reason.
https://www.privacyguides.org/en/basics/threat-modeling/

are you trying to hide from the government?
are you against surveillance capitalism?
are you trying not to get doxxed by script kiddies?
are you trying to be fully anonymous?

i dont care about being anonymous.
i dont care about being doxxed, i believe people have gotten too scared to use their real name on the internet.
if the government wanted to arrest me, they could, and they could arrest you too.
Yet, i use linux, searxng, invidious, grapheneOS, i listen to music and watch anime locally and i avoid most social media.
because what software i use, what files i have, what i search for and what i do on my computer is meant for my eyes only, and its nobody else's business.
my threat model isnt "i dont want google to know who i am" or "i dont want anyone to know anything about me" its "i dont want google to know everything about me"
privacy isnt all or nothing

>GrapheneOS
i like it. maybe im biased because im coming from a 12 year old chink phone but it has features i think are quite nice, and so far i havent encountered any bugs or apps not working
>>
>>107038665
If privacy weren't worth it Alphabet wouldn't be a $3 trillion company.
