Why did it take so long to finally solve Linux? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it finally happened, but it's been decades in the making.
>>
shit nophono cares fan about above me

what did placebo os solve exactly?

They should've just made a script for Arch and be done with it. Why waste the time and resources into making distro bloat? Make it easily accessible to normies on the base distro.
If your tool doesn't work, you fix it. You don't make a whole new redundant tool.
>>
>>107039129
It made Arch run much better, more stable and it's great for gaming. Switch to CachyOS and you'll be amazed.

it's made with the intent of being used on modern hardware instead of fucking core 2 duos
>>
>>107039174
core 2 duos are fairly modern cpus and can have up to SSE4.2
the generic builds target SSE2 hardware, correct me if I'm wrong

Gentoo fixed it a long time ago, Cachy is just the normie version of march=native.

It's comfy... also it's only during setup... you just save your make.conf, dotfiles, env, etc after it works.
>>
>>107039115
>Does not run on VM (the installation guide even specifically warns against not running it on bare metal)
>Does not perform expected behavior for some software, requiring odd troubleshooting
Every distro is made for a usecase, the usecase for CachyOS is Reddit ricing that only uses browsers and proton-ge.
Not a bad usecase, since most people break their install doing this, but still more specialized than Arch.

>easily impressionable fa/g/got gets tricked into installing yet another distro

many such cases
>>

It's still enough for a "basic usage" machine, browsing, office, etc. -- if you don't use stupid bloated software.
>>
>>107039665
Just because you weren't born yet doesn't make it not modern, zoomerkin.
>>
why is this so popular now? literally the jeetiest distro I ever had the misfortune to install, its like it almost smells of curry. The aesthetics are unmistakable, whoever did this is indian

I've used it. It's alright. Nothing you couldn't get on plain Arch yourself.
I guess it's fine for noobs as first-Arch-distro.
My only complain is: Why the fucking shitty name?

It's Arch pre-configured for gamers. It's considered the best gaming distro for desktop, and it came just in time for W10 EoL
>>
I'm sticking with Mint, thanks
>>
>>107041176
It is Arch pre-configured for people who go Reddit for dotfiles and bash scripts after installing Arch as babbie's first Linux, whereupon they end up with a broken mess three months in that they don't know how to fix.
The average person is really better off just using Arch to get more familiar with the base distro and maybe installing CachyOS packages after the fact, which is made easy with the AUR and the ability to just add CachyOS repositories to pacman.
The marginal gains from the custom tweaks will mostly be unnoticeable to the average user.
>>
>>107041215
Mint is way too outdated. Switch to CachyOS, you won't regret it.

mesa is on version 25.2.5 in Arch, 25.2.3 in Mint.

it's on 25.0.7 according to my scrying cube my apologies

ok, now will the shills stop crying about linux now that they have their gayman OS, right?
>>
My huge ego says that anybody using other distro than the one I'm using is an inferior human being.
>>
>>107041369
The average person is too stupid to deal with arch's shit and they get rewarded with less stability
Besides everyone would just do archinstall regardless
Normies don't give a shit about saving a gigabyte of space and megabytes of ram usage
I installed bazzite on my old craptop and I legitimately never used the terminal, you do everything through guis and get your shit through bazaar which is preinstalled
>>
>>107039174
>>107039162
So it's solved nothing new that other modern distros haven't already done.
>>
>>107042051
It's optimised around the toughest workload you're realistically going to give your pc on a daily basis while not really losing anything and giving it more stability over the basic arch build
you may not like your sekrit club getting bigger but fundamentally you don't lose anything if the procedure gets easier while you still have your path less traveled
